About Artika Horizon Primary Function: Eskumuturreko erlojua

Book Text: Artika Horizon eskumuturreko erloju bat da, poltsikoan eraman edo lepoan jantzi ere daitekeena. Uhalean dagoen kordoi batek uhal-zati konbentzionalak ordezkatzen ditu, erlojuari eraikuntza sinple eta fidagarria emanez. Uhala klip berezi batekin ixten da, eta klip horrek erlojua lepoan zintzilikatu edo arropari lotu daitekeen zintzilikario bihurtzen du. Kaxa metalezkoa da eta 43 mm-ko diametroa eta 9 mm-ko sakonera ditu. Ekoizpena fabrikazio gehigarriaren edo CNC fresatzearen bidez egitea aurreikusten da. Forma zulo beltz batean eta bere gertaera-horizontean inspiratu zen, eta kordoiak espazioa denboraren inguruan makurtzen dela sinbolizatzen du.

Production Technology
The dimensions of a real quartz movement were used in the development of this project. Body material - metal, assumed production technologies - additive manufacturing or CNC milling. This is justified by the small circulation and the complexity of the design.
Design Challenge
The most difficult thing in this project is the symbiosis of two global tasks, namely: the need to match the brand and integrate another global theme. Such conditions create many restrictions that can alienate a large segment of consumers. To make a product with a complex meaning, which would be interesting, including for an ordinary inexperienced user, it is necessary to offer him new, original functions. In this case, it is an opportunity to wear this watch not only as a wrist accessory
Research
The project started as part of a master's project and is part of a collaboration with the Barcelona-based design studio Anima. The task was to develop the concept of a wrist watch for the Artika brand. The main task of the project was to develop a watch that reflects the philosophy of Artik. Also, the idea of the project is the theme of space and time and an attempt to reflect them in the form of a wristwatch. Attempting to integrate the mataphor into both form and function is the basic idea.
Inspiration
The Horizon watch is the final version of this project. This watches reflect the main ideas of the first iterations, which were inspired by the Black Hole and its event horizon, how space can bend under the influence of large forces. So in this watch - the cord symbolizes a space that bends around time beyond its control
Project Duration
The project started in September 2019 in St. Petersburg and ended in January 2020 in Saint-Petersburg
Operation Flow
The watch is put on the hand and pulled together with a special clip. This clip turns the watch into a pendant accessory that can be hung around the neck or tied to clothes. The crown is a separate piece due to its design. The crown is inserted into a special hole, after which the watch can be wound.
