About Engawa Etxebizitza

Engawa, Familia-espazioak Birdefinitzen Japoniako Arkitektura Tradizionalean; Engawa, Japoniako arkitektura tradizionalaren ezaugarri bereizgarria, barneko eta kanpoko espazioen arteko zubi gisa jarduten du, mugak lausotuz funtzio espazialak markatzen dituen bitartean. Elementu arkitektoniko honek ikuspegi berri bat inspiratu du familiaren arteko elkarrekintzetan, bereziki egongela, jangela eta estudioa espazio-interferentziarik gabe modu iraunkorrean konektatzen dituzten bitarteko gelen diseinuan. Unique Properties: An engawa is a type of flooring in traditional Japanese architecture
that connects the interior with the exterior, and blurs the boundary yet defines spatial functions.
Dimensions & Packaging: 106 square meter

Production Technology: The structural elements inspired by engawa provides sufficient family storage space with surface planes for diverse usage.
For instance, mothers may fold clothes or do chores on the platform near the laundry room.
The proper height and space of the engawa also serve as an alternative for meeting guests
or an exciting area for children to play games.
Design Challenge: We make space for family storage needs within the limits of interconnected, standalone, enriched, and fun rooms.
Research: By incorporating functionality with the design concept,
we created middle rooms and platforms
to offer a new way for family interactions.
Inspiration: An engawa is a type of flooring in traditional Japanese architecture
that connects the interior with the exterior, and blurs the boundary yet defines spatial functions.
then created middle rooms that connect the living room, dining room, and the study without spatial interference.
The definitive solid and void structural elements of the middle rooms provide storage, interface usage,
and a new way for family interactions.
Project Duration: The project will start in Taipei in October 2022 and be completed in Taipei in January 2023

into standalone yet interconnected rooms.
