Tietoa: Nikao Apupöytä

Nikao-apupöytä on elegantti huonekalu, joka perustuu evolutiiviseen konseptiin ympyrämäisistä ja sylinterimäisistä geometrioista. Näitä muokataan sopeutumaan tiettyyn ympäristöön ja tiettyyn käyttötarkoitukseen. Näin sekä käytännöllisyys että rakenne ratkaistaan säilyttäen kappaleen alkuperäinen geometrinen olemus ja muuttuen samalla orgaanisemmaksi ja monimutkaisemmaksi objektiksi. Nikao-apupöytä on vuorovaikutuksessa katsojan kanssa luonnollisella tavalla. Sen magneettinen muoto yhdessä materiaalin lämpimyyden kanssa houkuttelee käyttäjän tulemaan lähemmäs, koskettamaan sitä ja istumaan sen viereen.

Ainutlaatuiset ominaisuudet: Nikao Side Table is an elegant, daring and cutting edge piece of furniture based on an evolutionary concept or circular and cylindrical geometries, which are transformed in order to adapt to a certain environment and function. By doing so, both structure and utility are solved maintaining the original essence of the piece, and becoming a more complex and organic object.

Tuotantoteknologia: The construction and manufacturing process equally combines technology and craftsmanship. High quality Iroko solid wood planks are machined three-dimensionally using a 5 axis CNC milling router, following a 3D drawing. Once the pieces are machined, these are glued and assembled one another by wood artisans obtaining the final shape and giving life to the object.
Muotoiluhaaste: I found specially challenging to achieve an organic, beautiful and eye-catching piece of furniture through its complex manufacturing process. It needs to be magnetic to the viewer. Technically, the great challenge was to model and CNC cut the wooden pieces with such a complex geometry.
Tutkimus: When facing Nikao side table, I had nature and living forms as a reference and inspiration. The creative process consists of trying to emulate this evolutionary natural process through natural materials and give a function to it, in this case a side table. This experimental phase is developed through direct transformation exercises using everyday simple material such as plasticine or paper, and tools such as drawing and 3D software. Once the model is created, a prototype is manufactured and tested using CNC technology and wood craftsmanship.
Inspiraatio: When facing Nikao side table, I had nature and living forms as a reference and inspiration. Every curve and surface present in nature has a biological explanation related to a certain function over time, and these evolutionary transformations are my source of inspiration to create Nikao. The creative process consists of trying to emulate this natural process through natural materials and give a function to it, in this case a side table.
Projektin kesto: The project started in February 2023 and finished in March 2023 in Madrid.
Toimintaprosessi: Nikao side table interacts with the observer in a natural way. The human eye is more used to curved lines and surfaces, they have always been present in nature, they surround us. That instinct lingers in our animal subconscious, and the soft, natural forms give us pleasure and tranquility. Its attractive shape, together with the warmth of the material, makes the user to come closer, touch it, sit next to it.
