About Montecarmelo Townhouses Logement familial

- Unique Properties
- When we all close our eyes and think of the words terraced houses in Madrid images of monotony and alignment come to mind quickly. It is true that the urban planning that governs the Madrid neighbourhoods are authentic cages for creativity, alignment machines, factories of the same. In OOIIO Architecture we apply certain design techniques, such as Dalí s paranoid critical method, which allow us to escape these restrictions. Thinking with an inspiration idea.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- Build area of townhouses 586,4 m2.

- Main material was rough brick cloths that cover and protect from the sun the facade of both houses. The brick has special dimensions, bigger than the regular size, and was placed in a vertical way.
- Design Challenge
- The obstacles overcomed during the development of the project were mainly related with the client taste. Sometimes it's difficult to shift their ideas of a modern house.
- Research
- Our team work always step by step, first of all making a Concept Research. The objective of the research is to find a generator idea to guide us in the design of the project. The research tools are based in simplicity and the re-interpretation of tradition that we think that are the key to find the most intelligent solution to a design problem.
- Inspiration
- The main idea was born thinking of traditional sun protection systems, such as esparto blinds that can be found in vernacular architecture in southern and eastern Spain, we came to the solution of creating rough brick cloths that cover and protect from the sun these terraced houses in Madrid, configuring the facade.
- Project Duration
- The project started in October in 2017 and finished in March 2019 in Madrid.
- Operation Flow
- These townhouses could inspire the new generation of architects to build singular architecture in a monotony urban environment. Breaking the monotony of the surroundings and building, in this way, fresh urbanism in the cities.
