« When the Present Meets the Past » est un projet de design intérieur pour un restaurant situé dans la ville de Taoyuan, à Taïwan, achevé en août 2015. Le projet consiste en la rénovation d'un ancien restaurant local implanté sur une surface de 198,34 mètres carrés. Le design s'inspire du style de Suzhou, en Chine, et applique l'esthétique chinoise à l'espace de restauration. Le plafond intègre un claustra conçu selon les méthodes traditionnelles chinoises de construction en bois. Des portes chinoises traditionnelles en bois, ornées de claustras ajourés sculptés, séparent les circulations tout en permettant un usage modulable. Les surfaces miroitantes élargissent visuellement l'espace, tandis que de grandes fresques murales représentent des scènes traditionnelles.

- The ceiling is integrated with the grille of Chinese-style wood construction method, which strengthens the integrity of the space. In addition, the designer also uses mirrored media to add visual magnification, giving the space a new traditional atmosphere that integrates ancient and modern.
