About Goldwater Kofje Tafel
It idee foar dit ûntwerp waard ynspirearre troch it wetter fan 'e oseaan. It skulptuerlike aspekt fan dit stik wurdt manifestearre yn it wetter-like oerflak dat de organyske foarm opnimt. Krekt as yn de natuer binne der gjin sichtbere ferbinings, naden of konstruksje te finen. Nei ûnderen rinnend wetter driuwend fan in rûne tút liket te reflektearjen yn 'e foarm fan' e skonken. It koper mantelt sekuer om it houten lichem en wurdt soldered en gepolijst om de yndruk te jaan fan ien trochgeand oerflak troch it heule stik.

- Production Technology
- The base of this table is made from multiplex wood, cut and shaped by hand. The shape of the surface is carved by hand as well, the only way to create an organic and natural flow of water. The brass sheeting is the applied over the carved surface and molded, hammered and soldered to create the impression of a sold surface without any seams or connections.
- Design Challenge
- The challenge on this piece was predominately the decision of what materials to use to create the organic effect of a water surface on metal to be floating all in one piece. Utilizing many materials such as resins, plastics, plasters, 3D printing, laser technologies and hand sculpturing to find the proper solution.
- Research
- Much research was conducted on how to create a center piece that is organically shaped to resemble the surface of water. A great deal of time was spent pondering over design methods and the actual construction of a piece that has no connections, seams or any visible construction. Extensive experiments were conducted on how to have this visual appearance utilizing solid brass sheeting and complicated welding techniques to achieve a seamless organic surface.
- Inspiration
- The inspiration for this piece came from the surface of water creating a center piece that reflects an organic water-like surface in a luxurious way, an unusual shape that still has the benefits of being functional and could be integrated in to modern interior settings.
- Project Duration
- The design idea for this table originated in 2016 in Los Angeles but never came around to actual prototype production until January of 2019. It was first introduced to the public by Scala Luxury in Los Angeles in June 2020.
- Operation Flow
- The surface is organically wavy but shaped in a manner where it is still functional. For example, a glass can sit on this table, the organic surface will make it stand on a light angle but not enough to tip over.
