About Fruitfulness Ljochtynstallaasje
Fruitberens is in ljochtynstallaasje makke foar in lantearnefestival yn Taichung, Taiwan. De haadstruktuer is in fjildfoarmige, steapele constructie boud út massive peallen fan wylgesearn. Sân fruchtfoarmige lampklusters binne foarme út tin snien wylgesearn, mei de hân bûgd. De basis is in kwadratyske, ûndjippe wetterbak bedekt mei swarte kaaisteentsjes, wêrby't it wetter de ferljochte foarm derboppe wjerspegelet. Yn stee fan spikers binne tradisjonele mes-en-groefferbiningen en klikbefêstigingen brûkt. It wurk kin folslein út elkoar helle wurde en nei de eksposysje weromjûn wurde oan de grûn.

- Production Technology
- The statue is made of a field-shaped stacked frame made of solid willow cedar jambs as the main structure, hung with seven light and fruit lamp clusters made of thinly sliced and bent willow cedar. The base is made of a square shallow water tray covered with black pebbles and covered with black pebbles on a square shallow water tray. Fruitfulness appears to be a large tree of sturdy statues, and the reflection of the water tray reflects the good harvest of the fields.
- Design Challenge
- It is difficult to analyse the structural mechanics of the various components, and we have used digital design tools to simulate and scale the prototypes to overcome the challenges of three-dimensional construction. We have also achieved excellent results with the help of our traditional staff who are well versed in the art of large wood construction.
- Research
- With an interest in sustainable construction, we wanted to redefine the lantern festival as an art installation but not a disposable piece of junk.
Drawing on traditional timber construction methods of mortise-and-tenon joints and snap-in hardware, the project is an attempt to create a disassembled installation that is both structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing.
The research process requires an understanding of the properties of wood construction and raw wood materials, and the ability to create new applications within them. - Inspiration
- Fruitfulness, willow fir is used as a material to create a reversal of the landscape, and the work can be completely returned to the soil after the exhibition.
This work is a poem of the people of a mountain settlement, listening to the voice of the land and nature, and combining the wisdom of farming: a good cycle between the settlement, the land, and the hydrology, where the fields are aligned with each other, and where the harvest is fruitful and beautiful. - Project Duration
- Built in Jan. 2020 in Taichung city in Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- Made from willow wood and veneer, the piece is made from a tongue and groove wooden structure with snap-on hardware and shaped by handcrafted veneer bending. No nails are used to achieve a sustainable outcome that can be completely disassembled.
