This restaurant design shows how to preserve the local historical and cultural characteristics in the design of commercial projects and shows the spatial environment in line with the urban cultural background. In addition, space can absorb local cultural elements through design, and uses decorative style design techniques to create an exquisite dining environment to reflect the essence of Shanghai-style culture, so as to achieve the coexistence of decorative aesthetics and classic culture.
Ynspiraasje: The project site is in Dongjiadu area, which located in the old city downtown and owns the first Catholic church in Shanghai, a lot of blending Chinese and Western cultures has long been witnessed there. So as to continue the design concept of "sailing through the East and the West". The entire restaurant space is inspired by the classical architectural form of The Shikumen from the Shanghai traditional neighborhood, and reshaping the space by Art deco details in order to give a new spatial tonality of "contemporary Shanghai style" to make the entire space more refined, elegant and tasteful.
