- Design Challenge
- The hardest part of this project is to consider how to localize the commercial mall to this site, which should inherit local culture of Xi An. On the other hand, we want to give this mall one of the most essential functions to provide a shopping place that fit for whole family, especially for children who need playground and interesting education elements belong to the city. As a result, we design to emerge local culture and the function of family entertainments into this project.

The design of the facade is integrated with traditional Chinese culture. Designers extract silk as a symbolic element for deconstruction and connecting the facade volumes with various ribbons like decorations.

Silk has been the identity of city as an introduction gateway and image to the outside of the world. The mild wave and pleats are applied to be the facade expression symbolizing the silk itself. Reliable to gradually transparent blocks enhance the conviviality welcoming people into the green oasis of the shopping mall.
