About Yunhai Shimen Páirc Thionscail
Is páirc thionscail il-úsáide é Yunhai Shimen i gCeantar Qujiang, Quzhou, Zhejiang, an tSín. Tarraingíonn an dearadh ar thírdhreach sléibhtiúil an réigiúin, ag baint úsáide as foirmeacha geoiméadracha glana de thúir mheasctha agus ardáin chéimnithe chun sléibhte agus scamaill a thabhairt chun cuimhne. In ionad póidiam miondíola dúnta, osclaíonn an coimpléasc amach ina shraith d'ardáin lasmuigh atá ceangailte lena chéile agus suite ag leibhéil éagsúla. Bíonn na hardáin seo, forhallaí spéire na dtúr agus gailearaí lárnach darb ainm Cloud Deck ina n-óstaigh do chruinnithe poiblí agus d'imeachtaí ar scálaí éagsúla. - Production Technology
- Reinforced concrete for main structure; steel moment frame for the central "Cloud Deck" structure; Insulated glass units of low-e laminated glass with hidden ventilator for tower curtain wall; Anodized aluminium, stainless steel, and granite for exterior cladding.
- Design Challenge
- The client aims at creating an unconventional mixed-use development where a large amount of community functions is infused into the retail complex. This not only creates problematic adjacencies but also contradicts with the limitation of space. To fully exploit the civic potential of the project, an important decision was made early on in the design process to maximize utilization of outdoor spaces as an extension of GFA accountable spaces so as to expand the reach of public events while remain complaint with planning/zoning requirements.
- Research
- A survey of the project site was made to determine its urban gesture in relation to important contextual elements such as adjacent park/amenity spaces, urban programs, and masterplanning motifs. A research into the city's cultural and geographical contexts was also conducted which highlighted its celebrated natural landscape as an important inspiration of project design.
- Inspiration
- Drawing inspiration from the mountainous natural landscape in Qujiang, Yunhai Shimen lends itself as an analogue to mountains and clouds with clean, geometric forms of staggering towers and cascading platforms.
- Project Duration
- Project design started in August 2023 and was awarded in open competition in September 2023. The project is currently in the process of planning approval clearing.
- Operation Flow
- The project encourages public interactions by creating occupiable outdoor platforms spanning across the site at multiple levels. These platforms echo the public programs of their corresponding interior spaces and become extensions thereof. The massing arrangements between the towers, the podium, the central Cloud Deck gallery, and the sunken plaza work synergistically to create an focal point where visitors could gather for concentrated events such as performances and talks. Sky lobbies are inserted at the crowns of each tower to highlight them with public activities. These together create a multi-level public space system to accommodate to events and gatherings of various scales and qualities.
