About Bulbo Cathaoir
Is cathaoir shuí í Bulbo a bhfuil foirm dhealbhóireachta aici atá bunaithe ar chruthanna luibheolaíocha. Tá an struchtúr agus na cosa déanta as adhmad soladach tauari, a roghnaíodh mar gheall ar a neart agus a ghráinne aonfhoirmeach. Ní sheasann an chathaoir ach ar thrí chos, agus coinníonn an leagan amach neamhshiméadrach an suíochán cobhsaí. Tá na taca uillinne déanta as veiniléirí tanaí adhmaid, atá greamaithe agus lúbtha faoi bhrú ard. Tá an suíochán agus an taca droma cumhdaithe le cúr ard-dlúis agus clúdaithe le fabraic boucle. Tugann an taca droma cuartha tacaíocht don chorp, agus tugann na taca uillinne tacaíocht chliathánach.

- Unique Properties
- The Bulbo chair translates the organic growth of natural forms into curved, welcoming shapes. Its asymmetrical solid wood structure challenges traditional standards, while the embracing backrest and circular seat provide comfort and visual balance. Crafted with certified wood and precise joinery, it combines formal innovation, sustainability, and timeless design.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- 640mm x 620mm x 790mm
The chair features a structure and legs made from solid tauari wood, chosen for its strength and uniform grain. The armrest is crafted from thin tauari wood veneers, glued and bent through high pressure pressing. The seat and backrest are upholstered with high density foam and covered in boucle fabric, offering a soft texture and refined finish. - Tags

- Production Technology
- The production of the bulbo chair involves wood selection and preparation, including cutting, planing, and 5 axis cnc machining. The front legs are turned on a lathe, and the rear leg is milled from solid wood. The armrest is made from thin wood veneers, glued and bent using a high pressure press. Assembly is done with presses, followed by sanding, staining, varnishing, manual upholstery, packaging, and quality control.
- Design Challenge
- The main challenge was translating organic forms into structures viable for scaled production, while preserving visual lightness, stability, and comfort. As a three legged chair, it required a rigid and highly stable structure. The asymmetry of the legs demanded precision to ensure balance. The correct tilt of the upholstered backrest was also essential for comfort. The project involved ergonomic testing and research on veneer pressing and precise joinery.
- Research
- The research began by observing how sitting can be a sensory and welcoming act. The goal was to design a sculptural, comfortable, and stable lounge chair with only three legs. The process included physical prototypes, ergonomic testing, and angle studies. The curved laminated wood arms combine structure and aesthetics. The result is a balanced piece that merges form, function, and emotion.
- Inspiration
- The Bulbo chair celebrates natural strength and organic softness. Inspired by botanical forms, it evokes the restrained energy of a bulb about to bloom. Its generous volumes and well-defined lines express a balance between structure and comfort. Bulbo unites precise craftsmanship with visual poetry, creating a piece that supports, embraces, and transforms any space.
- Project Duration
- The project was developed and produced in April 2024 in Parai, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Its Brazilian market launch took place in February 2025 during the Abimad fair in Sao Paulo. The international debut occurred in April 2025 at Fuorisalone during Milan Design Week.
- Operation Flow
- The bulbo chair invites a sensory experience, its curved back gently embraces the body, while the soft seat adapts to its shape. The user feels welcomed as they sit, with armrests that offer precise lateral support. Despite having only three legs, the chair remains perfectly stable, creating a surprising and engaging interaction with form and balance.
