About Roentgen Bòrd-oidhche

Is e bòrd-oidhche a chaidh a dhealbhadh airson an t-seòmair-cadail a th' ann an Roentgen. Tha Roentgen air a dhèanamh de fhiodh cruaidh agus tha dà sheata de dhròraichean ann, feadhainn ri fhaicinn agus feadhainn falaichte. Nuair a thèid dròraichean le grunnd meallta a tharraing a-mach agus a thionndadh, nochdaidh còig dròraichean beaga falaichte. Tha dà dhròraiche bheag ri fhaicinn agus aon dròraiche mhòr le puingean cur-thairis togte airson uidheaman dealanach cuideachd rim faighinn. Tha inneal cur-thairis gun uèir suidhichte ann an oisean àrd. Chaidh uidheamachd a dh'fhosglas le putadh agus ruitheadairean meatailt a chleachdadh. Tha an dealbhadh a' toirt iomradh air àirneis meacanaigeach an 18mh linn le cuartan-falaich dìomhair.

Unique Properties: Roentgen nightstand involves the owner in the process of unlatching and expanding it outward into the room, a sequence of new spatial conditions that offers additional useful storage space and protection for personal belongings. It has a set of hidden drawers that can be accessed by pulling outward visible section of drawers and turning it left/right (according to configuration). The design is simple and can be performed in a wide range of color and material combinations.
Dimensions & Packaging: Width 400 mm x Depth 480 mm x Height 480 mm
Tags: nightstand, bedside table, bedroom, storage, drawers
Production Technology: Material used is solid wood. Available in custom type of wood and finish. Push to open technology for drawers.
Design Challenge: The challenge was to integrate the idea of having a secret set of drawers in the modern nightstand, but at the same time not to create a massive piece of furniture as it was in the 18th century, and to make a construction stable when it expands outward.
Research: The project is a result of research on works of 18th century cabinetmakers adapted in terms of current trends and needs in the field of furniture production, technologies, and design.
Inspiration: The inspiration came from the works of David Roentgen, German cabinetmaker whose design innovation in the creation of ingenious pieces of mechanical furniture with secret drawers and compartments operated by hidden springs and levers made him renowned throughout the ruling houses of 18th century Europe.
Project Duration: The concept was developed and visualized in January 2020 in Miami.
Operation Flow: The nightstand has 2 sets of drawers - visible and hidden. If a fake bottom drawer is pulled outward, the hidden set of drawers will appear. Thus, it has 1 large drawer with built in recharges for electronic devices, 2 visible small drawers, and 5 hidden small drawers. So, personal belongings can be stored out of sight, keeping the home tidy and organized. All the drawers are lined and the quality metal runners ensure they run smoothly. There is a wireless charger in the upper right/left corner (according to configuration).
