About Briiv Glanadair-adhair

'S e glanadair-adhair a th' ann am Briiv a chaidh a dhealbhadh airson àiteachan dachaigh is oifis. Bidh Briiv a' cleachdadh stuthan ath-nuadhachail agus nàdarra an àite nan sìoltachain àbhaisteach a lorgar anns a' mhòr-chuid de ghlanadairean. Tha na meadhanan sìolaidh air an dèanamh de chòinneach, plaosg cnò-chocho agus matrics sìoda-gualain, agus faodar a h-uile meadhan sìolaidh a chur air todhar. Tha am bonn agus taigheadas an t-sìolachain air an dèanamh de pholaimear bith-phlastaig stèidhichte air feur ailbhein. Tha an t-aonad 220 mm a dh'àirde, 160 mm a leud agus 900 g de chuideam. Faodar astar agus ùine a shuidheachadh tro aplacaid fòn-làimhe no eadar-aghaidh gun suathadh air a' bheulaibh.

About the Duais Òir A' Design Award

Tha Briiv Glanadair-adhair air Duais Òir A' Design Award a bhuannachadh, aithneachadh anabarrach urramach a bheirear do dhealbhaidhean den chiad ìre, mìorbhaileach agus sònraichte. Tha buannaichean Òir nan cruthachaidhean anabarrach ùr-ghnàthach, làn lèirsinn agus drùidhteach a nochdas gèinidh, gliocas agus comas an luchd-dealbhaidh. Thathar an dùil gum bi Briiv Glanadair-adhair na innleachd a gheibh moladh mòr, a stèidhicheas gluasadan agus mòr-chuimhneachain a bheir luach nach fhacas riamh roimhe. Tha an dealbhadh seo a bhuannaich Duais Òir A' Design Award na phròiseact sònraichte, urramach a bhrosnaicheas crìochan ealain, saidheans, dealbhaidh agus teicneolais gu mòr. Bidh Briiv Glanadair-adhair a' cruthachadh faireachdainnean làidir miann, a' dùsgadh dealas, a' brosnachadh cruthachalachd agus a' glacadh sinn.

Unique Properties
briiv is a new take on the air purifier. Using renewable and natural materials to filter the air in your home or office environment, briiv creates clean, safe, breathable air via an innovative filter system. briiv’s filters of moss, coconut husk and a silk-carbon matrix perform as effectively as an air purifier of the same low-power class. The filter media are compostable and briiv connects to smart home applications for control and to monitor usage for replacement filters.
Dimensions & Packaging
briiv stands at 220mm high and 160mm wide with a total weight of just 900g.

Production Technology
Vibers elephant-grass based bio-plastic polymer is used for the base and filter housing. Moss, coconut and a silk-carbon matrix were utilised for the filter media for their biodegradable traits.
Design Challenge
The most difficult obstalce was to stratify the filter media in such a way that a. was as effective as HEPA at the same power level utiliesed by competitors and b. to maintain airflow through the unit in order to provide a clean air delivery rate, the CADR, comparable to HEPA competitors.
Research
Our primary goal was to reduce waste from HEPA filters which are found in the majority of air purifiers. By replacing HEPA filters with biodegradable filter media, briiv saves on landfill and the usage of finite resources such as crude oil. Effectiveness of our filter media versus HEPA was determined using air quality monitors for in-and-outflow of air mixed with common particulate matter at various dimensional scale from PM2.5 to PM10 as primary indicators or change in air quality.
Inspiration
Air purification is rife by plastics, glass and other unsustainable materials. We felt there is a better way to do things and set out to incorporate bioplastics and as much renewable material as possible into briiv to deliver clean air that's better for the planet, our increasingly scarce resources and for energy usage.
Project Duration
The project began in late 2018, developed into 2019 and launched on Kickstarter in April 2019. briiv continues to crowdfund on Indiegogo and is already receiving wholesale orders from across the globe.
Operation Flow
briiv can be operated either via the smartphone app or via a touchless interface on the front of the unit. Speed and duration can be set on both app and interface. The touchless interface was implemented as a direct response to reducing the risk of cross-contamination realised throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
