About Dihedral Cathair Suaimhnis
Is cathair suaimhnis é Dihedral a tógadh as cruthanna geoiméadracha agus comhpháirteanna siméadracha. Cuireann an dearadh foirmeacha heicseagánacha rialta agus cuasacha le chéile chun an suíochán agus an cúldroim a thacú. Roghnaíodh an heicseagán toisc go bhfaightear an chruth seo sa dúlra agus go gcruthaíonn sé struchtúir láidre, rialta. Chuir stíleanna nua-aoiseacha ó lár an chéid tionchar ar chuma ghlan na cathaoireach. Tá Dihedral déanta as adhmad rubair chruánaithe le críochnú donn siúnta, agus tá clúdach uirthi as bréagleathar os cionn stuáil chúbháin. Tá an chathair suaimhnis beartaithe le haghaidh úsáide laistigh amháin.

About the Duais Iarainn A' Design Award
Tha Dihedral Cathair Suaimhnis air Duais Iarainn A' Design Award a bhuannachadh, aithneachadh urramach a bheirear do dhealbhaidhean math a choinnicheas ris na riatanasan proifeiseanta is gnìomhachais a thathar a' sùileachadh bho chruthachaidhean a chaidh an dealbhadh gu math. Tha buannaichean Iarainn a' nochdadh sgil mhòr, speisealachadh àrd, tuigse eòlaiche agus comas cruthachail an luchd-cruthachaidh. Thathar an dùil gum bi Dihedral Cathair Suaimhnis na chruthachadh air a bheil mòran meas, ion-mholta agus gràdhach a tha practaigeach agus ùr-ghnàthach. Tha an dealbhadh seo a bhuannaich Duais Iarainn A' Design Award a' cur nan cleachdaidhean as fheàrr sa ghnìomhachas còmhla agus tha feartan teignigeach comasach aige ceangailte ri eòlas-dèanamh agus tàlant. Tha meas air Dihedral Cathair Suaimhnis airson a dhùrachd agus chaidh a dhealbhadh gus leasachaidhean càileachd beatha a thoirt seachad a chuidicheas le bhith a' dèanamh an t-saoghail na àite nas fheàrr.

- Unique Properties
- The Dihedral chair is composed of striking geometric shapes with multiple symmetrical components that gives it a bold shape and sticks out to the human eye. Following form and function, the lounge chair simultaneously embraces it’s regular and irregular hexagonal design to support the seat and back rest.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- Width 558mm x Depth 762mm x Height 762mm

- Production Technology
- The choice of materials were selected purposefully to create a high contrast that displays its unique design, while also considering its economic and sustainability impacts. The chair is constructed from solid rubberwood with walnut brown finish, and is upholstered in faux leather and padded with foam.
- Design Challenge
- Finding a solution to merge some of the regular and concave hexagonal shapes without compromising comfort and aesthetics was a sure feat in complexity. I had to explore the necessary cutting requirements for wood milling as there are a number of simple, yet complex geometries with merging the left, right, and back leg with the seat frame.
- Research
- The initial goal of the Dihedral chair was to create a simplistic yet elegant design based off of the hexagon, which is one of nature's strongest shapes. The initial research was an iterative process that focused on symmetry, form, and pushing the essence of what makes a lounge chair. The process consisted of free sketches, real scale modeling, and 3D printing.
- Inspiration
- The Dihedral chair is heavily influenced by mid-century modern styles to create an aesthetically clean look, while simultaneously merging geometric shapes to create a structural and practical design. The base shape of the Dihedral chair is inspired by hexagons, which can often be found in nature and can be used to build strong and regular structures.
- Project Duration
- The project started in January 2023 in Houston, TX, USA and finished in February 2023.
- Operation Flow
- Due to the choice of materials the chair is designed for indoor use only and is not suitable for wet and humid conditions outside. The selected material is very moisture absorbent and direct contact with water should be avoided to extend its life cycle
