About Eclipse Kukui Pā

'O Eclipse he kukui pā i ho'oulu 'ia mai ka pouli lā. 'Elua 'āpana ko ke kukui: he kino kukui pōpō e hō'ike ana i ka lā, a me ke ana metala 'ele'ele e hō'ike ana i ka mahina. Ke huli nei ke ana ma kekahi 'axis' a ke ālai nei i ka mālamalama, no laila ke loli mālie nei ka pālama a ho'āilona ana i ka ho'ohala 'ana o ka manawa. Ho'omalu 'ia ka 'array' LED e kekahi mea 'ike kihi ma ke 'axis'. Hiki ke huli 'ia ke ana ma ka lima a i 'ole ma ka ho'oneʻe 'ia 'ana ma o kekahi papahana kelepona pa'a lima. Hana 'ia ka pale kukui mai ka pālasetika 'ānoni. He 60 ma 15 ma 60 milimeka ka nui o Eclipse, a loko nō he pākahi uku hou.

About the A' Design Award Hao

Ua lanakila ka hoʻolālā Eclipse Kukui Pā i ka A' Design Award Hao, he ʻike hoʻohanohano i hāʻawi ʻia i nā hoʻolālā maikaʻi e hoʻokō ana i nā koi ʻoihana a ʻoihana hana i manaʻo ʻia mai nā mea hoʻokumu i hana maikaʻi ʻia. Hōʻike nā lanakila Hao i ka mākau nui, ka loea kiʻekiʻe, ka ʻike akamai a me ka hiki hana noʻeau o ka poʻe i hana iā lākou. Manaʻo ʻia ʻo ka hoʻolālā Eclipse Kukui Pā he mea hoʻokumu i mahalo nui ʻia, hoʻohiwahiwa ʻia a aloha ʻia e pono a hou. ʻO kēia hoʻolālā i lanakila i ka A' Design Award Hao e hoʻohui ana i nā hana maikaʻi loa o ka ʻoihana a loaʻa nā ʻano ʻenehana mākaukau i hui pū ʻia me ka ʻike hana a me ka makakoho. Mahalo ʻia ka hoʻolālā Eclipse Kukui Pā no kona nānā pono a ua hoʻolālā ʻia e hāʻawi i nā hoʻomaikaʻi ola e kōkua ai i ka hana ʻana i ka honua i wahi maikaʻi aku.

Unique Properties: In the design of the Eclipse wall lamp, it consists of two parts, a lamp that represents the sun and a black metal frame that represents the moon. The frame rotates around the axis with time, thereby blocking the light from the lamp, forming a phenomenon similar to a partial solar eclipse and a total solar eclipse. This phenomenon reflects the passage of time while adjusting the brightness of the light. Of course, you can also adjust the brightness by turning the frame by your hand or APP.
Dimensions & Packaging: 60 mm x 15 mm x 60 mm
Eclipse lamp is powered by a 5V 1A DC power supply and has a built-in rechargeable battery with a battery capacity of 1800mAH.

Production Technology: The lamp body uses a built-in power supply and switch design. It uses LED arrays to emit light. The lampshade is made of matte plastic. The frame is made of black metal. The rotation axis around the frame has an angle sensor. When the frame rotates, the LED light is controlled to turn on and off. Forms the effect of an eclipse.
Design Challenge: First of all, it is the reproduction of the solar eclipse. How to design the shape of the wall lamp so that the user can establish the connection between the eclipse and the wall lamp. Secondly, it is the design of technical feasibility, how to design the internal structure and circuit, and make the product operate as expected.
Research: The contents of the research included the symbolic meaning of the solar eclipse in different cultures, the possibility of establishing a connection between the solar eclipse and the wall lamp, and the technical possibility of brightness adjustment through angle sensors. This also makes me think about whether using some natural phenomenon to guide the design will resonate with the user and whether it can build a more natural and beautiful relationship between the user and the product.
Inspiration: The design of the Eclipse wall lamp is inspired by the solar eclipse phenomenon. The moon blocks the light emitted by the sun to form a solar eclipse. The sun is a symbol of light. The phenomenon of solar eclipse brings light and dark changes to the sun, which has inspired the design of wall lamps. Also, sunrise and sunset are symbols of time. When the wall lamps operate automatically, they can be regarded as Sketchy clocks.
Project Duration: The project started in September 2019 and was exhibited in the School of Design and Art of Beijing Institute of Technology in January 2020.
Operation Flow: When the wall lamp runs automatically, the frame rotates around the axis, which is a rough clock. Of course, the user can also adjust the brightness of the wall lamp by manually adjusting the angle of the frame, or control the angle or rotation speed of the frame through the mobile phone APP.
