Through several derivations, the size and structure of the “sofan” were finally determined.
Noiʻi: By observing the life of Chinese residents in Beijing, we analyzed the living environment of Chinese people based on Noldus software, and after understanding the habits and daily needs of Chinese people, we studied the behavior of space, time, and users. It is found that mobility and portable furniture are the new needs of people, so the design of this furniture is proposed
Hoʻoulu Manaʻo: With the changing dwelling lifestyle, the typical sitting culture furniture, such as Soban, is still frequently used in contemporary life. Furniture has always been a medium to showcase the human way of life, and we can understand that era's culture and social structure through furniture. The Soban has changed from a necessity with a transport and dining table function to auxiliary furniture in contemporary life. Therefore, the design of modern Soban needs to be reconsidered the culture and behavior of the users so that it can meet the modern lifestyle.
Ka Lōʻihi o ka Papahana: The project started in March 2022 and finished in September 2022 in Seoul
Kaʻina Hana: By folding the table, it is possible to achieve convenient storage of the table. The table can be used both indoors and outdoors depending on the variety of materials.
