- ʻEnehana Hana
- The project utilizes high quality natural materials such as solid wood, marble, and stone, combined with large format glass and breathable textiles. CNC cut elements and custom furniture ensure precision and aesthetic consistency. Specialized light filtering techniques, concealed joinery, and climate adaptive windows were applied to enhance comfort. The integration of sustainable finishes and moisture resistant materials extends durability while maintaining a tactile and visual sense of warmth.
- Pilikia Hoʻolālā
- The primary challenge was achieving emotional resonance without visual clutter, and integrating natural elements into a compact urban structure without compromising function. Balancing raw material expression with refined craftsmanship, as well as maintaining visual calm while embedding complex technical systems, required precise execution. Navigating local climate, lighting variances, and the need for long term material durability were also key factors in overcoming design constraints.
- Noiʻi
- This design underwent qualitative research focused on human centered spatial behavior, emotional resonance, and nature based well being. Methods included case studies, site specific light simulations, and material aging analysis. Data was gathered through moodboard testing, user interviews, and environmental observations. Results showed improved user satisfaction and emotional comfort in natural-material spaces. The research influenced layout decisions, material selection, and lighting composition, enhancing real-life applicability in emotional design.
- Hoʻoulu Manaʻo
- The project was inspired by a desire to reconnect urban residents with nature and emotional authenticity. Influenced by poetic Chinese landscapes and modern Eastern philosophy, the design seeks to transform space into a quiet ritual of daily life. It reflects a longing for slowness, softness, and sincerity in a fast paced world, translating nature's rhythms into spatial narratives and using architecture as a vessel for storytelling and inner restoration.
- Ka Lōʻihi o ka Papahana
- The project started in December 2020 in Guangdong, China and finished in May 2024.
- Kaʻina Hana
- The open plan layout encourages fluid movement between spaces while guiding occupants through curated sensory experiences. Soft lighting, changing daylight, and layered textures create emotional depth. The entrance garden sets a calming tone, while the living areas unfold into zones of contemplation, gathering, and rest. Natural materials and neutral palettes promote interaction through tactile engagement and atmospheric harmony, creating a space that adapts to both daily life and introspection.
