About Dongtou Passenger Port

Guided by the "Symbiosis of Mountain and Sea" concept, terraced setback buildings and vegetated slopes blend mountain and sea to create a three-dimensional space. Longitudinally connect mountains and coastline, transversely integrate an 800-meter commercial-waterfront belt, vertically zone transport, commercial, and ecological corridors, shaping a low-carbon symbiotic entity.

Design Challenge
In a complex terrain environment, how can buildings blend seamlessly with the "mountains and seas", and how can they provide people with a leisure walking space?
Research
The base at Tantou Mountain in Dongtou constructs a three-dimensional space based on the concept of "mountain-sea symbiosis" and creates a low-carbon entity. The cruise terminal integrates the elements of Buddhist grottoes and seashells, creating the artistic conception of "Buddhist Grottoes in a Mirage City by the Sea".
Inspiration
The Dongtou passenger port draws inspiration from the curvilinear forms of seashells, integrating the morphological essence of Buddhist grottoes to craft the poetic concept of "Maritime Mirage of Sacred Caves." Resembling a colossal shell cradling a pearl, the structure materializes as a mirage-like seascape. Through layered archways and streamlined shell-like volumes, it enhances its landmark identity as a pilgrimage gateway while transcending Buddhist cultural motifs into contemporary poetics.
