"מהפך הפנס" (Lantern Transformation) היא אריזת פח לעוגות ירח שנוצרה לכבוד חג אמצע הסתיו. המיכל עשוי מפח מצופה בדיל בטוח למגע עם מזון, המעוצב בהחתמה מדויקת ובריתוך ללא תפרים. החלק החיצוני מעוטר במוטיבים של ציפורים ופרחים בציור יד, המוגנים בציפוי עמיד למים. לאחר אכילת עוגות הירח, המכסה מתהפך וננעל בנקישה למקומו כאהיל פנס. לאחר מכן מופעל מודול תאורה משולב, והפחית הריקה הופכת למנורת אווירה. השינוי, שאינו דורש כלים, מאריך את חיי האריזה ומפחית פסולת.

After the mooncakes are enjoyed, the packaging undergoes a purposeful transformation: the lid is flipped to become a shade, instantly converting the empty tin into an elegant paper lantern-style ambient light with a soft, warm glow. This innovative dual-lifecycle design combats waste by turning disposable packaging into a lasting decorative object, seamlessly blending traditional Chinese mid-autumn symbolism with modern sustainable practice.

The core obstacle was engineering the lid’s dual function as both a secure seal and a stable lantern shade, while integrating lighting electronics suitable for a food package and ensuring the entire system remained affordable and easy to use for the consumer.

- The product serves two distinct phases. In its primary phase, it functions as a protective and decorative mooncake tin. In its secondary phase, the empty tin is repurposed: the user flips the lid, which clicks into place as a lantern shade, and activates the integrated light switch. This simple action transforms it into a standalone ambient lamp, casting light through the hand-painted motifs. The intuitive, tool-free transformation is central to the design, emphasizing ease of use and encouraging sustainable behavior beyond the initial gift-giving occasion.
