द एनिमल बैकबोन शंघाई में स्थित एक खुदरा स्टोर का आंतरिक डिज़ाइन है, जो एक ऐतिहासिक इमारत के भीतर बना है, जो कभी बूचड़खाना हुआ करती थी और अब एक सांस्कृतिक एवं रचनात्मक केंद्र है। यह स्थान 100 वर्ग मीटर में फैला है और धातु की प्लेट, दर्पण तथा कांच से निर्मित है। इसका ले-आउट एक बिल्ली के चलने के मार्ग का अनुसरण करता है, और एक वृत्त भीतरी तथा बाहरी क्षेत्रों को विभाजित करता है। दरवाज़े और खिड़कियाँ दोनों क्षेत्रों के बीच दृश्य-संपर्क बनाए रखते हैं, जबकि भीतर बैठक कक्ष, भोजन कक्ष, रसोई और स्नानघर के दृश्य संयोजित किए गए हैं। यह डिज़ाइन शहर को साझा करने वाले मनुष्यों और पशुओं पर चिंतन के लिए आमंत्रित करता है।
