Casa de Mar

Initially, site analysis in Mérida, considered climate. This informed the design aiming to establish a symbiotic relationship between architecture and nature. CAD software facilitated detailed digital models, merging interior and exterior. A central horseshoe-shaped construction utilized evaporative cooling for natural air conditioning. The program included distinct social and private areas with separate entrances, ensuring privacy and comfort. Local materials like stone and wood were chosen for durability, low maintenance, and integration with the environment.
The challenge was to harmoniously blend architecture with nature, integrating the interior and exterior spaces. Overcoming this required spatial planning, material selection, and elements that foster a connection with the surroundings. The climate posed another hurdle, which led to the inclusion of a central pool for natural cooling. Sourcing suitable materials that aligned with the design vision and regional context was a challenge. Ensuring privacy was also a consideration, resulting in carefully planned separate entrances and vestibules for social and private areas.
