About Oil Street Art Space Sistem Penunjuk Arah

Oil Street Art Space adalah sistem penunjuk arah yang diciptakan untuk sebuah ruang seni dan budaya publik di Hong Kong. Lokasi ini mencakup bangunan bata merah bersejarah serta bangunan dua lantai yang lebih baru dengan area luar ruang untuk pameran dan kegiatan komunitas. Bentuk papan penanda ini diturunkan dari logo lokasi tersebut dan memadukan tiga bidang permukaan. Warna hitam digunakan agar selaras dengan suasana bersejarahnya, dengan satu bidang menggunakan warna merek. Papan penanda dibuat dari baja nirkarat dengan pelapisan bubuk dan huruf cetak dalam (debossed) yang dicat, serta dipasang di antara celah bata untuk meminimalkan kerusakan pada bangunan.

Unique Properties: Oi!- Oil Street Art Space, is housed in the former clubhouse of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. It opens to the public as community leisure and cultural space in two phases after revitalisation and restoration, including a red-bricked Grade II historic building with a tile roof and over 3000 sqm outdoor area with a two-storey building incorporating an exhibition and multipurpose venue respectively.

Production Technology: Stainless Steel: powder coating and filling debossed letters in paint
Research: Research on signage installation protection on the historical building conducted while designing the signage. To minimise the damage to the building during installation and provide flexibility on future maintenance and replacement. At last, installing the signages in between the bricks for the historical building action had been taken.
Inspiration: The project is designing a wayfinding system for Oi! - Oil Street Art Space, an art oasis in urban city with original historical premises and new extension of contemporary building with outdoor spaces to host exhibition and community activities to the public. The form of the signage is a transformation of 'Oi!' logo and combined with three surface areas to illustrate the diversity and energetic vibe that 'Oi!' is going to bring to the community with the opening of a new phase.
Project Duration: May 2022, The Hong Kong SAR
Operation Flow: In consideration not to obscure the red bricks architectural features and to match with the historic environment as well as the contemporary exhibition and multipurpose venue, we proposed the black colour for the signage and touch up on the top left flipped area in 'Oi!' brand colour as well as the context. The set of approachable and manageable signage with consistent and helpful design to highlight the features and provide guidance to visitors to explore all parts of 'Oi!'.
