Interview with Katsumi Tamura

I have 2 design fields ― client works and original products. 4 creators (1 art director, 2 designers, 1 copy writer) belong to my design farm.

Client works are designed based on the concept, “Design for Solutions”. Original products are designed based on the concept, “Life with Design”.

I love simple and luculent designs, ageless and borderless designs.

My favorite design is familiar items like stationaries I can reflect the concept, “Life with Design”.

First of all after establishment, I considered things and values I could supply to my clients.

Creative works using a paper which have various possibilities.

I'm always thinking about design.

My designs focus on making a user happy and affluent.

I feel satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.

I feel happy and pride myself imaging peoples are pleased to use my products.

Innovative designs, moving design with idea and creativity.

First of all, I consider if the idea or design have existed in society yet, and if they can move peoples.

Exhibition of the A’design award competition

Life, Nature and City etc. ― all thing's shapes and colors surrounding myself.

I create a new product by switching view angle as usual. My main products are standable calendars and message cards.

I have been living in Tokyo, Japan. I design with borderless idea regardless of Japanese culture and history.

I manage and direct a team and design work totally.

It is important to communicate to designers. Because that discovers essence of problems and leads to breakthrough.

To broaden horizons, consider deeply, and try without fearing failure.

Subtraction design, not addition design.

To take an interest in various things. Besides, to get own originality.
