Interview with Khashayar Mansourizadeh

Actually we have just started our architectural group and now there are only the 3 of us; but we intend to start our own business and company as soon as possible.

This word means a lot for us, including creativity, freedom, joy, happiness, love and above all that, a way in which we can change the world as we think is correct. Design for us, is the only way in which we could present our true insights to the world.

We mostly like to design public projects; because in such designs, you could feel physically the results of your initial sketches and the different perspectives and criticisms of various people. Public projects are sensitive and demanding, and these are the exact challenges we seek in each design.

We believe that always the last is the best, because we achieve the last by the experiences of previous projects; thus, the last one is always the error-less design. So, In our opinion, design field is paving the way of its future involvement with technology and the next generations trends. Art has been integrated with computer science and its unlimited power of creation.the Kerman museum building is our best and most favorite project.

Our first design was a private apartment unit which we were asked to design the interior spaces and renovate them.

Our most favorite technologies are energy saving ones, such as photovoltaic panels which we have manipulated a lot in our designs. Also we are keen to design projects with wood and metal materials, because they are the most flexible and common materials in the building industry.

Frankly, creativity has its own no-time character. It means that it could be at night, morning or just in the middle of your birthday party; so, an architect should always carry his little sketch book in his packet.

As we all agree, we are living in a technology-based area; thus, we believe that a good design and building is the one with the potential of fulfillment of these technological demands. In that way, we always strive to create a brand new structure or energy saving building ,of course with a nice aesthetical aspect.

Excitement, joy, happiness, love and passion are the most dominant senses of our design process.

Glory and satisfaction. It feels just like having the entire world in your hand. It is undoubtedly the nicest feeling for a designer to be recognized in the world.

We design for people, so the success of a project only depends on the level of its users’ satisfaction and sense of convenience.

Determining the badness and goodness of a design is a complicated process and could not result a exact determination, but based on some pre-determined standards, fulfilling aesthetical, technological and functional demands of any project, could result in a positive judgment and the lack of those parameters could evolve bad consequences.

In the current era, sustainable development of buildings and maximum use of spaces, are the two prominent factors which undoubtedly should be considered. Thus, architects have a unique burden of designing green, highly efficient, outstanding and modern buildings which would shape the future of cities and the character of societies.

In our opinion, design field is paving the way of its future involvement with technology and the next generations trends. Art has been integrated with computer science and its unlimited power of creation.

In each project, we analyze numerous factors which effect the project or its environment, such as weather conditions, topography, society, etc. and after that, the combination of all of them shapes the main concept of our design.

Our utopia is a city with buildings in which people sense the feeling of security and relaxation; the buildings which are exactly fitted to the present era and society trends. We don’t believe in creating masterpieces or shaping the unforeseen future, we believe in the creation of normal, but outstanding projects which evolve with its environment and then become a masterpiece, just because people love them.

Frankly speaking, culture does not effect our designs itself. The fact is that the users and clients who want traditional designs could effect our designs, because our goal is to satisfy the users in an appropriate way.

Our design process in based on a combination of various factors such as environmental analyzes, society demands, technology, construction process, etc. At first, we just study the entire conditions in any field that effects our project. Then, we start the design process by alternating different combinations and solutions for the existing conditions and finally we choose the best one and further it to transform it to a complete project.

Pen, eraser and sketch book, which shape the first stage of any design process; laptop and model-making tools are the most beloved components of our design process.

Normally I spend most of my time at work or in construction sites and after that I usually take a break and go to nice places with my fiancé. After that I mostly spend my late hours of day to study and read books.

Actually we are young designers ourselves.

Designing is the real meaning of freedom and creation, but working with numerous clients and trends shapes some disadvantages and problems which could sometimes become obstacles in design process.

Being neat and accurate in design is our golden rule. No matter how much time we got, we always do the best and strive to be the best all the time.

Scrupulousness, hard work and a beautiful, creative mind. These are the only things which a designer needs.

Sketchbook, software such as Autocad, 3ds max, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper,etc., Model-making tools, are the most favorite components of our design process.

Before starting any actions, we design a schedule for our design process; thus, every action taken in the design process is pre-scheduled and mostly in-time.

Actually it could not be exactly determined, because from a project to another, depending on the content of the design and the project, it alters.

Mostly people are keen to know the main concepts and design processes of our designs, mostly the issues related to technological aspects.

The first residential project which was for a private client was our most important job experience; because it was simultaneous with our final term at university and it really contributed to the enhancement of our construction knowledge.

Mostly we have private clients such as apartment owners who want interior or façade designs .Sometimes we also have some clients who want the entire design and construction process of their buildings.

Designing with computers and making 3D models are the most favorite parts of our design process.

We are strongly eager to further our academic studies and establish our business with a higher knowledge of design and construction.

We work as a team, because a perfect design could only be achieved by a well-fitted design team.

Right now we have two residential projects which are under construction. They are located in Tabriz,Iran .One of them is a two-floor private apartment unit which we are designing and also constructing its interior spaces, and the other one is an entire apartment building which its structure has just been completed.

I just want to add a point about how hard a success can be achieved. We nearly spend our entire 5 months day and night to design and simulate the various parts of our “Kerman Museum Building” design. It was a really hard time, but the taste of victory is beyond imagination.
