Award winner for Best Artist at high School - Year10.
Self taught artist. Short period of study at Edith Cowan University- Textiles Degree.
Perth Technical College 1991-1992 studying Fashion Design

My love for art and colour. It is a calling. The need to express myself through drawing and design. To create works to make people feel good.

I wasn't forced. It was my inner calling.

I've designed large florals, a tuscan collection of ceramics, my International Tribal Ladies depicting happy, serene women going about their daily activities in a happy, serene manner. I would now like to concentrate on fashion illustrations.

Follow their Bliss. Do not ignore your inner calling.

Focus, determination and listening to that inner voice.

When done with passion. When passion and talent combine, expect a masterpiece. The satisfaction it gives you, and in turn is well received by a larger audience.

Because when something is done from the heart, it radiates positive energy and evokes good feelings. Also, when theres quality , theres longevity. You can always see the difference of a good design.

I would love to design illustrations for upscale design houses so that the value of the design could be appreciated and recognised. I would also very much like to illustrate for renown magazines such as for example Vogue and Bazaar.

Designing illustrations for the top magazines of the world. Also, to see my illustration design interpreted into/onto fabrics and collections of the best designers of the world.

Passion. Adoration for design. My connection to Source.

The great Megan Hess is a major inspiration.

Megan Hess' work is both classic and modern and vey refined and glamorous.

The Award winning design with A' Design Award - Manifestation
It is very different to traditional interpretations of this subject matter. It is a little stylised. The use of gold foil.

I went for it. I took the plunge. I approached a subject matter that I wasn't entirely sure I could pull off. I tried. Im happy I did.

I have a great interest in Interior Design

The capability to make the mundane into something great, unique.

My husband and children.

My passion.

Time shortage. Taking care of a young family.

With pride. In the best possible way.

I am currently in the process of setting up a brand new website to display and sell my illustrations and art. I would very much like to design as mentioned, illustrations for magazines and clients and collaborate with major design houses.

To become a successful, world renowned illustrator with collaborations with major design houses.

Quality. Professionalism. Service. Great designs and a passion for my work.

It embellishes our world and has the power to evoke joy and happiness from the viewer.

My website and designs to market on it.

All my sold paintings and art pieces in the form of ceramics and homewares. Because it makes me extremely happy to think that my designs are bringing joy to various homes, places and that people like or respond to them in a positive way enough to surround themselves with them. They allow a piece of my creativity into their homes.

I think we as designers have access to great business platforms at the moment and these are improving. We can design, print, ship at the click of a button.

I think that with all social media platforms and technology, design is opening up to a wider audience and more interaction between client and designer.

Depending on the project. A simple illustration can take between half an hour to 3 hours to produce. Paintings are different again. Depending on subject matter and style.

I always sketch it out on paper with pencil first.

Follow your Bliss.

A good designer will set the trend.

Very important. As mentioned, it is closing the gap between client, media, designer and so on. Accessibility to a much wider audience.

I have just purchased Photoshop. I use my iPhone 7 to save designs and publish onto Instagram. Also, my iPad Pro

Very important. I think that like a good haircut, colour and materials can completely alter the final desired result.

Is it available for purchase!

Mastery. Craftsmanship. Passion from the designer.

No. It's very personal.

Past clients as they inspire me to create more. Proof that what I design is marketable.

New York by Megan Hess. I just love her style and passion for her work.

Practice. Keeping myself design orientated by reading up on other designer success stories and researching fields of interest.

Karl Lagerfeld. He is a master of design. Megan Hess.

Love it! I am happy, proud and glad that I can also be of an example to my children to follow their passion.

Lilac. Somewhere in the snow topped mountains, by the woods in front of a lake surrounded by pine trees! I love snowy winters. I think various foods are favourites. I can't pin point one! A croissant ? A latte"? Chocolate? I adore Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Elie Saab. Love jewellery. My diamond ring.

I first proudly displayed my hand painted cushions at a renown interior designer showroom here in Perth. This was my first ever showroom experience. Upon seeing my very large cushions missing, I happily asked if they had been sold, however, I was stunned to learn they had most probably been stolen near the front entry door! So, my first sale, was not a sale at all, but a steal!

I need to maintain a high, focused vibration or mood. I like to be in the zone when I sit and quietly let the creativity flow. I cannot design in a bad mood!

Yes! As a little girl, for my 8th birthday in Rome, Italy, a friend doctor of ours did not buy me the average gift for an 8 year old - it was a large hard cover book called Primo Incontro con L'arte ( First encounter with Art). They knew I was destined for great things ! I didn't understand it properly then, but I've treasured the book ever since.

There will be no schools. No institutions to make students sway away from their true passions. There will be places people can go to, to learn or master a desired skill. People will be more connected to their Source, their higher calling and the world will be a better place for it.

I am designing with a passion, quality works which will hopefully portrey the joy and positive emotion with which I so passionately designed them for you, the client.

Designer Interview

23 April 2017

I have always loved art and as a little girl, dreamt of painting or drawing my way into a career.. Being accepted after extensive evaluation by Edith Cowan University in Perth, to study Textiles, I realised this wasn't the avenue for me to take in order to become a fashion designer. I then applied at a fashion course at the Perth Technical College and was accepted to study Fashion Design there. As one does, I put my design career on hold and concentrated on helping at the family business for the next 5 years, putting my design career on hold.

My creativity was begging to come out however, I began designing hand painted textiles in the form of cushions and marketing them Australia wide. Next came hand painted ceramics, tiles wall murals and glassware. Theses proved successful and after presenting my work at the AGHA (Australian Gift and Homewares Show) in August of 1999, I began distributing my designs to upscale boutiques throughout the country.

Design is a means to connect to your creativity and produce innovative, beautiful works which can be enjoyed by the viewer. They embellish our world. They keep us alive, striving for the next possible thing.

I like to design, or paint large scale florals, I like to also draw fashion illustrations and simple portraiture.

The horse painting submitted here. It was a challenge as I had never tackled this subject matter in the past. I was pleased at the outcome, a classic subject portrayed in a more modern manner.

I have designed a porcelain collection for renewed Australian company Australian Fine China.

I enjoy painting on canvas, also watercolour and gauche on paper

When I can manage to quiet my mind and let divine inspiration recommend the next step or design

If I am painting large florals for example, they must feel alive.

I am extremely centred and myself when designing. I am in my element!

As an artist, nothing brings more satisfaction at the realisation of ones design!

I think when passion and talent combine, expect a masterpiece.

Emotional response. Colour influence, and the energy of the body of work

We embellish the world! We make people feel better. Innovation is what keeps the wheels turning. The thrill of discovering the next best thing. My aim is to positively influence through art and design.

More imminent designing as we are more and more influenced by technology.

I have exhibited various pieces in public exhibitions.

Nature is an inspiration. Again, it is that impulse from a higher level, a higher being. Being connected and quieting your mind so that you may hear a divine calling, an interpretation of that energy onto paper or a canvas

I would say that my style is in between realism and conceptual art

I live in Australia and Im of Italian descent. The tuscan style influenced my early ceramic design work. Living in Australia, I feel a freedom to experiment with any design style.

Have worked with Australian Fine China who asked me to design a porcelain collection back in 2000.

After viewing the designers body of work, it is important to consider professionalism, service and passion.

I like to sketch initial inspirations on paper before re sketching these (if canvas artworks) free hand onto the canvas.

My paintings and ceramic works

Very hectic! Looking after 4 children, administering house and designing once all done.

Follow your Bliss. Always

Positive- immense satisfaction at realising a body of work. Even more so, having this work recognised by clients, media, or collaborators.
Negative- extremely competitive field. One must make sure to differentiate oneself.

Follow your Bliss

Determination, attitude and perseverance

pencil, sketch book. Photo shop I've just acquired. There are a few illustrators I greatly look up to.

One needs to make sure rest is a priority

Depending on the project

Did you do that?

Artist selling my work nationally

Various upscale boutiques and furniture houses around the country and private commissions.

Illustration. It is an avenue toward true elegance and style in a world full mass production.

I would love to collaborate with upscale design houses to produce unique, elegant designs to be featured in their future collections

I am currently working on some illustrations to market on my new website to be published soon.

I am reachable via my email: pt-design@westnet.com.au

I am very thankful for the opportunity to present my work at this prestigious award and hope that doors will open in the form of liaisons with reputable design houses around the world. Thank you. Ciao
