Il Palace Cinema è un interno cinematografico su due livelli situato a Shanghai, in Cina. Il progetto si estende su una superficie di 6463 metri quadrati. Il quarto piano ospita l'ingresso e la hall, mentre le scale mobili conducono al terzo piano, dove si trovano tutte le sale di proiezione. Il bianco rappresenta l'acqua, mentre il bronzo rappresenta le pulsazioni. Motivi a increspatura in bronzo si diffondono sulle pareti, sulle colonne e sul pavimento, e l'illuminazione a soffitto nascosta ne accentua l'effetto. La sala IMAX adotta tonalità di grigio pietra con poltrone in similpelle grigia. I materiali impiegati comprendono marmo, alluminio, tessuto, moquette e vetro.

- When the audience and the film are in sync, it is like hearts beating at the same rhythm, pounded by a drum without edges. The rhythm should be astounding and natural. When put into this design, materials were carefully selected so that the beautiful and soothing rhythm will not be over-ridded; that audience who come into this space will go with the flow.

- Tecnologia di Produzione
- The two-stories cinema aims to provide a holistic experience for its audience. The fourth floor is the entrance and lobby, next to the counters are the escalators that descend to and from the third floor, where all the screening houses locate. If we are to present the pulse of water, what colour should it be? As the aesthetic shapes, lines and edges are the key things to convey, we decided to keep the colors subtle. White is used to represent water, while bronze is used to represent pulses.

- There are two types of screening houses, the Standard House and IMAX House. IMAX House uses stone grey as the main colour, with mixture of different shades of grey faux leather seats that echo the uniqueness of stones. But not just the seating, even the walls and the floor also joined in to provide a space so comfortable like nature.
- Ricerca
- Films are fascinating because of the ground it stands is blurry or so-to-speak, it stands on water. In between reality and fantasy, the meanings extracted from films are constantly floating, as light as cloud and as dynamic as water. Are films like mirrors reflecting what is true, or are they merely illusions?
- Ispirazione
- Films are the pulse of water: it can be fierce and it can be mild; water reflects and water rejects. Whether one will end up float on it or get drowned by it, is not a choice but a chance. If you cannot row, maybe you should go with the flow.
- Durata del Progetto
- The project started in 2017 in Shanghai, China and finished in 2019 in the same place.
- Flusso Operativo
- Starting from the entrance, the white colour gives a bright view in general. The ceiling with concealed lighting looks as if the white is being crystallised; creating ripples from this point, the bronze ripple patterns spread across the walls, the columns, and to the floor. At the lobby area, the ceiling outlets were cleverly designed as half-moon shapes, which were made up with wooden stripes painted in bronze colour.
