- Terry is a unique design that combine an emotional concept with a functional approach. The Ceramic pieces were handmade in Italy. Every piece leaves a different feeling and can be used as vase, centerpiece, storage. Terry can't be the same, lines and shapes are based on the simple action of making, by instant emotions. Design need to be unexpected and imperfect, as imperfect can be life! Terry is versatile and elegant, bring power into the space with usability, usefulness, and desirability. Terry comes in different sizes and can be customized with colors and finishes.
- Inspiration
- Terry is the expression of how design can be emotional: Different shapes are combined together: tall, short, skinny, fused all gather together in a rectangular base. We live in a world where we should remind our-self that we need to accept each other, no matter colors, cultures and languages. Having a nice dinner with this centerpiece over the table want to be a reminder that LOVE has different Shapes and an object is not just an object.
- Research
- The research behind this product was to design an object as unique expression of a Human needs. Every furniture should not be just a functional object but should bring joy and meanings. My research started understanding how UX design is interacting with our behavior and how I could move this ephemeral computer concept in a Design product that we can use in our daily life. Can Design share emotions? The result was Terry: an emotion behind a unique object.
- Challenge
- The hardest part was to create a quality product, functional and attractive, but the biggest challenge was to understand the market: Users like imperfections? Can design be imperfect today? YES, people likes real and unique products, imperfections are part of this process.
- Realization and Technology
- Ceramic Pieces handmade in Italy, based on a simple pencil sketch made on a road trip from Puglia to Venice, the sketch was presented to a local artisan and made with unique care and craft. Every piece is unique. Finish: White/Glossy.
- Operation and Interaction
- Terry can have different sizes and can be used as centerpiece, storage and as simple combination of vases for flowers, candy, candles, Fruit, Jewelry and much more. As Main centerpiece on a dinner table or memories storage in the living room or bedroom, Terry is elegant and functional for all.
