More About Fold and Rescue Paper Folding Lifeboat
Fold and Rescue is a foldable lifeboat designed for use on ships. The design responds to the limited storage space on board, which restricts the number of lifeboats that can be carried. The folding structure is inspired by the origami boat and allows the lifeboat to be stored in a compact form. The structure is simple and is composed of nine thickened buoyancy boards joined by soft links made of reflective materials. Operation is completed in one step by unfastening the three straps in turn. A positioning lock fixes the opening angle.
