About Jackery-LightCycle S1 Outdoor Power Supply

Light Cycle S1 is a portable outdoor power supply shaped like a tire. The rounded body allows users to pull the device along the ground by its foldable handle, so a large capacity energy storage unit can be moved easily on foot. The surface is made of rubber and composite materials such as carbon black for wear and shock resistance. The solid structure limits deformation and improves heat dissipation. A built-in generator converts the kinetic energy of the rolling body into stored electricity. Rotary shields protect the input and output terminals.

Award Record

With this recognition, Wei Bai, Jiajin He and Xiaowei Yin is a winner of 6 A' Design Awards. The awards were granted between the 2020 - 2021 and the 2021 - 2022 editions of the A' Design Award & Competition.

Design Details

Unique Properties
Light Cycle S1’s unique tyre design enables users to move the device on foot easily, which perfectly solves the problem of moving the large capacity energy storage device. The device featuring high power and high capacity can adapt to 99% of the electrical appliances on the market and provide them with long battery life.
Inspiration
Traditional outdoor power supply is inconvenient to carry. The tyre shaped design of Light Cycle S1 allows users to move it easily by pulling the handle, and this design also avoids the homogenous competition of product shapes.
Research
Research goal: To seize the market through a tyre shaped outdoor power supply Research direction: Easy to carry, high power, high capacity Market research: Online research and professional research company data Social impact: Taking self-generating, easy handling, and ecological compatibility as the starting point, the tyre shape design is finally used to make the product more portable. It breaks through the existing energy storage model and achieves lower-carbon travels.
Challenge
Major challenge: anti-shock performance against harsh road conditions Solution: The surface of the tyre-like body is made from rubber and composite materials such as carbon black, which enhance the strength, wear resistance and shock resistance of the product.
Operation and Interaction
During the process of moving the device, the kinetic energy generated by the rotation of the body is converted into electric energy by the built-in generator system and stored in the battery pack, bringing a steady green energy supply to outdoor travel. The rotary shield on both sides of the device can protect the input and output terminal to enhance the safety of electricity use. The foldable handle ensures product stability and offers easy storage.
Project Duration and Location
The project started in 2022 in Shenzhen and finished in 2022.
Specifications
The surface of the tyre-like body is made from rubber and composite materials such as carbon black, which are wear-resistant and shock-proof. The solid tyre design enables a lower deformation rate and a stronger heat dissipation and makes the product better adapt to different working environments, thereby to improve the safety performance and extend the lifespan of the device.
