Design Details
- Unique Properties
- This design fuses classical elegance with contemporary luxury through a striking interplay of colors, materials, and lighting. By contrasting marble, velvet, metal, and glass with dramatic color palettes and curated art pieces, it crafts a narrative-rich, emotionally resonant, and functionally refined villa space.
- Inspiration
- The project draws inspiration from the concept of duality timeless classicism and bold modernity. Influenced by haute couture aesthetics and museum-like curation, the design transforms a luxury villa into a personal gallery of lifestyle and taste, evoking emotional connections through visual storytelling.
- Research
- This was an applied design research project. The goal was to explore multi-sensory spatial narratives. Through visual studies, material testing, and client interviews, we analyzed aesthetic response patterns. Insights showed that bold contrast with soft transitions creates emotional depth, enhancing spatial memory and satisfaction.
- Challenge
- The main challenge was achieving balance between artistic expressiveness and domestic comfort. Sourcing compatible materials with diverse tactile and visual properties required global procurement and on-site prototyping. Aligning lighting precision with spatial emotion also demanded iterative testing and refinement.
- Realization and Technology
- Carrara marble, brushed brass, matte steel, velvet, carved hardwood, crystal lighting, and vintage wallpaper were precisely sourced and customized. The design applies layering techniques and site-specific installation to orchestrate harmony among tactile contrasts and spatial hierarchies.
- Operation and Interaction
- The space is designed for intuitive flow and immersive experience. Zoning is articulated through materials and light; seating and functional areas align with sightlines and circulation paths. Scene based lighting and curated décor guide emotional interaction and lifestyle behavior.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project started in August 2023 in Beijing and finished in December 2024 in Beijing.
- Specifications
- Interior area: approximately 400 square meters. Spatial organization includes foyer, reception, living and dining areas, study, bedrooms, and lounge zones. Lighting scenes, furniture scale, and material placement were adjusted to meet ergonomic, functional, and acoustic comfort standards.
