More About Mazie Storage Bench
Mazie is a foldable storage bench designed for homes shared with pets. The main body is a retractable storage box with a flexible arc structure, so Mazie can be flat packed when not in use. Assembly takes three steps: unfolding the body, inserting the baseplate and connecting the feet. Several units can be stacked and joined through matching card slots to form a non slip pet ladder or a side table. The interior is made of thick medium density fiberboard, the seat cushion is filled with high density sponge, and the metal coated silicone feet protect the floor.

- Unique Properties
- The area in the residence needs to be fully and reasonably used to meet people's different living needs. So, consumers like products that can be used for many purposes. Inspired by modular furniture and pet - friendly designs, combining the storage function with the pet ladder not only meets the owner's basic storage needs but also improves the living experience of aging pets, creating a harmonious home scene for humans and pets to live together.
- Inspiration
- Mazie focuses on the needs of the human-pet cohabitation scenario, with functional integrated design as the core. The main body is a retractable storage box. Through the flexible arc structure, it can be flat-packed to meet the daily storage needs. When stacked and combined, Mazie can form a pet ladder with the help of the card slot and anti-skid structure, helping pets easily get on and off the sofa or bed, making Mazie a link connecting people and pets and optimizing space.
- Research
- This project focuses on optimizing the storage experience in living spaces and explores the design of multi-functional furniture. For scenarios such as bedrooms and living rooms, furniture products are developed that combine the functions of storage and seating, and can also be used as pet ladders. By analyzing the needs of living spaces and the characteristics of pet activities, and integrating ergonomics and storage logic, the Mazie series of furniture forms has been developed. It saves space, meets the needs of daily sitting and resting, and item storage, while providing safe climbing assistance for pets.
- Challenge
- In the creative process of this project, it is necessary to precisely balance the functions of storage, seating, and pet climbing ladder. The superposition of these three functions is likely to restrict each other, so the structure and dimensions need to be repeatedly adjusted to ensure a reasonable storage capacity, comfortable seating load-bearing, and a reasonable slope and stable stepping of the pet climbing ladder. There are significant differences in the layout and scale of different living spaces. The furniture should be adaptable to the bedrooms of various house types while maintaining a coordinated and unified appearance.
- Realization and Technology
- The interior of the product is made of thick medium - density fiberboard. The stool cover is equipped with metal corner protectors inside, and the maximum static load - bearing capacity is 150kg. The seat cushion is filled with high - density sponge, which is very comfortable and can maintain its shape for a long time. The bottom feet adopt a metal - coated silicone process to prevent damage to the floor.
- Operation and Interaction
- This storage stool from the Mazie series features a foldable design. To use it, simply unfold it, insert the baseplate, and connect the feet in three easy steps.
