Design Details

Unique Properties
This project assumed the visual narrative composed by contemporary urban styling, as Contemporary implies that it is ongoing, in synchronization with time, without being bounded by a single style. As the soul of the spatiality oscillates between the Chinese Classicism and Western Modernism, contemporary is not merely a divide or cultural demarcation but the effort to decipher the sensibility within the urban estrangement, a narrative in interpreting the coexistence of the old and new.
Inspiration
Contemporary urban styling is about the remnants of the current urban landscape, an every-changing urban vocabulary. The design articulated a particular pattern of spatial layers in creating showcasing of collections of wines, books and artwork, without compromising functional design. With symmetry in spatial layout, materials and spatial framing defines programs and usage in a flowing contextual and synchronized movement.
Research
In the busy urban living, people crave for a calm and relaxing space imbued with their imaginations for beautiful lives, as this project embodies the best of the classic and the modern, where the contemporary elements and classic line work accentuating tastes and design essence, as posh and fashionable visual vocabulary was guided by a contemporary aesthetic narrative, as the vector of the flair of modern day residential design advances beyond the styling consideration.
Challenge
This project, with single-side natural lighting, was treated with ample indirect natural lighting in constructing a penetrating and flowing space, without any obstruction. With all storage recessed into the walls, the circulation path was securing the sense of transparency and privacy while the functionality was never compromised. With the undulating visual of glass pattern, as well as consideration of structures and service pipes, the ceiling work adds layers to the interior with preserved grandeur.
Realization and Technology
For consideration of privacy at the entrance, the design team devised a processional turn with lighting and modern abstract landscape painting with storage function imbued. With an elegant Chinese styled sliding door, it seamlessly incorporates Chinese classic aesthetics while visitors became much appreciative of the aesthetic taste of the client leading to expectation for visual guidance, with neutral-tone fabric sofa exhibiting an aura of elegance.
Operation and Interaction
With the theme of Art Deco Modern Styling, amalgamated with the Classic Chinese Spatiality, the elegant taste was interpreted in the procession meandering through the interior, from living room to the study, with 1.2 meters glass sliding demarcating the domains and extending the vista. As the vertical timber grille exhibited a simple linearity, the public domain extends with a light grey color tone bringing the Oriental nobility into the space, with an avant-garde aura for the interior.
Project Duration and Location
The project started in December,2018 and was completed in December, 2018 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan
Specifications
With a reflective wall in the dining area, the round mirror shape complements with the Sycamore pattern vitalized the overall visual experience. The dark colored mirror is more subdued in its illuminance which, in turn, make the interior more spacious and flowing, while the mirror reflection makes the natural lighting more even, as well as creating a warm dining atmosphere of interwoven layers of spaces and perceived elegance.
