Design Details
- Unique Properties
- As the singular styling of the pattern of marble plank, through the special arrangement and design, it was allowed to extend visually while creating different perception for each plank. With ample natural lighting pouring in, the white-color marble was articulated with the most exquisite aesthetics for a harmonious and tranquil spatial ambiance.
- Inspiration
- This project was creatively anchored on the elements favored by the client such as white-color scheme and masonry materials to manifest a minimalist and fashionable styling, while complementing the many Chinese-styled tea-tasting set and art collections owned by the client. Also, separately planned public spaces on the first and second levels would cater for different social needs of the male and female client.
- Research
- As the site for the building was at the edge location, it means ample natural lighting, so the design team has given an open-plan layout so that the public domain of the interiors can have the most lighting and ventilation without artificial interventions. As the interior was planned to serve different functions of social and living needs, a concerted materiality strategy with wide range of colors, textures, and materials was deployed to articulate the minimalist and light modern living.
- Challenge
- The major points of challenges faced by the design was to overcome the low ceiling height in concealing air-conditioning equipment, as well as maintaining the maximum ceiling height.
- Realization and Technology
- Spanish Marble Slim Plank, Spanish Ceramic Door, System Furniture, Metal Work
- Operation and Interaction
- The window dimension of the existing building was made especially large to accommodate the future usage convenience for the client, with the all the curtains electrically powered, and even the ones behind the sofa can be easily utilized which was impressive for the client.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project was finished in June, 2019 in New Tainan City, Taiwan.
- Specifications
- This project is a stand-alone three-floor house with the design area of 188 square meters for the first floor, 149 square meters for the second floor, and 122 square meters for the third floor, with layout for reception area, tea-tasting room, living room, dining area, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
