It started from my hobby of drawing since middle school, then I began to learn how to edit and manipulate photos from a computer.

How did you become a designer?

It started from my hobby of drawing since middle school, then I began to learn how to edit and manipulate photos from a computer. This makes me focus on pursuing this field by continuing my study at a vocational high school in the multimedia study program, majoring in information technology at college. And finally, I decided to pursue my career as a UI/UX designer to date. Will I always be a designer? In my opinion, this will follow the developments & needs of the future, even in our daily lives we can be said to be "designers" in our own lives.

Which emotions do you feel when designing?

I feel a lot of emotions when I design but the most I feel are enthusiasm and inner excitement.

What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?

Besides Creativity, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Problem-solving are some of the most crucial skills for designers. Personal Branding and Marketing skills are also needed as a sales value for a designer.

What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?

My dream design project is to be able to design something that can be truly useful for many people and can have an impact on their lives (Increasing the life's quality of the people).

What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?

Uncertainty and change will always exist in every line of life, and as designers, the way we respond to this is to continue learning, persevering, and adapting to existing developments and changes. This is indeed very challenging, but if we are able to get through it, we can be called a winner.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

The best practice in anything, including in the world of design, is to learn from mistakes and adapt them to improve our standards in the future so that we can be even better. and also learn from other people and our competitors, competing healthily is also very important. Following existing standards is also a wise choice.

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

Based on my experience, It depends on every project that I've worked on. Sometimes I follow new design trends for the project which is felt to have to follow existing design trends in order to get the attention of users, On the other hand, the originality of design style provides authenticity to the project that will be produced later. whatever that is the good design is one that remains over time.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

Based on my experience as a UI/UX Designer, From the technical aspects the design is created based on standardization and complete documentation, making it easier for the team to maintain the design, and seen from the results, a good design gets a good response from users, which means it works as it should and can become a metric for the product or project itself.

How do you decide if your design is ready?

When the project/product itself is successful helps people to achieve more.

What is your biggest design work?

When I designed for social media application (mobile-based application) that based on a user interest model. Because of this is related to a variety of users where they will find each other who have the same interests as the community. Which makes a lot of features in that application. besides that, this is also quite challenging as it requires a balance between business goals and needs that are relatable to users.

Who is your favourite designer?

However, in my opinion, these three things above can represent the benefits obtained from winning a big award event. Design awards and competitions would be contribute to my next career journey as a designer through winner benefits they have provided. In my opinion, participating in an event like this is also relevant for the development of a designer's career path because their competition system is designed in such a way as to present standard methods and professional judges who are competent in their field. I feel honored and an immense joy when I am the Designer of the Day.

Xana Os Design UI · 19 domande

the design of XANA OS is based on several mobile operating systems that I have used before (if I may mention the brands, let's say Windows Phone, Samsung One UI, and iOS).

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

the design of XANA OS is based on several mobile operating systems that I have used before (if I may mention the brands, let's say Windows Phone, Samsung One UI, and iOS). According to my personal experience and analysis, several of the operating systems above have advantages and uniqueness. Each of these makes them loved by their users. I don't know why I was inspired and encouraged to create a mobile OS design inspired by the three OS above into a new mobile OS concept by taking the existing advantages of these three.

What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

My focus in making this project is fairly simple, namely designing a mobile operating system concept that is unique and fresh, which is not yet available on the market. also what I want to achieve through my design is to maximize recognition and exposure both from the design side itself and personally as a designer so that it can reach more parties as a selling point for me.

What are your future plans for this award winning design?

My future plans for this design are to continue to develop it better as time goes by, and there is also the possibility that I will sell this design exclusively to a party who is interested with my design.

How long did it take you to design this particular concept?

This project started in November 2020 and was completed in February 2021 (Phase I). At that time I felt like I wanted to nominate it straight away. Still, after I thought about it, it didn't matter if the nomination was delayed as long as the development of this project was ongoing to improve the quality of the project itself until it was delayed around 2 years and continued again in early 2024 to improve the design before this year's nomination period deadline closed.

Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?

My design is currently still a concept and has not been used or realized. However, if in the future there is a company that is interested in my design or collaborates with me to create a design like the one above, then I am ready to collaborate with them or sell to them.

What made you design this particular type of work?

My encouragement is that I see the development of mobile operating systems is currently very fast, but on average the existing designs more or less follow each other and look monotonous until finally, the urge arises for me to experiment to create a design that is unique and also fresh.

Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?

I made this design independently.

Who is the target customer for his design?

because it is still a concept, the target could be companies operating in the field of mobile technology or IT companies. If the design is realized then the target customer is almost all groups of people.

What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?

What differentiates this concept from similar concepts is that the UX design that I created for the navigation completely uses a swipe gesture, which means basic functions such as a control to go back, go to the home screen, see the task screen, etc. done by sweeping the edge of the screen. why? because this can make the existing navigation process more seamless, sophisticated, and easier. therefore also pay attention to my design does not have a back button in it.

How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?

for this, honestly, I give the name of this design XANA to sound cool and different, there is no special meaning to it.

Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?

I used Figma software to design the UI and UX parts. to advance prototyping I use Protopie.

What is the most unique aspect of your design?

The unique aspect of this design lies on the navigation section where navigation such as back to the previous screen, back to the home screen, viewing the tasks screen, etc. are completely done by swipe gesture. why? it simple. because this can make the appearance of the UI which becomes more minimalist but also makes the UX more seamless, sophisticated, and easier. Imagine, if all this time the layout of the back button has always been placed in the top left corner to reach it, this is indeed trivial, but if there is a large device, are our fingers long enough to reach it? Maybe, but it will require more effort for users to reach it. So to make it easier, navigation in XANA OS completely uses a swipe gesture where if the user wants to return to the previous page, for example, this can be done by swiping the corner of the screen. This may make the user have to adapt at first, but it will only take a while for the user to learn until finally the user will discover how easy this kind of navigation is.

Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

For this project, I designed it from start to finish independently.

What is the role of technology in this particular design?

The role of technology in creating design concepts is certainly very large and basically, technology is the main container for this kind of interactive UI design concept. especially for the touchscreen technology section.

Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?

In particular, there are not too many portions or it has to look like complicated research. For the initial idea, I designed it based on the analysis I carried out by observing and looking at reviews about operating system technology to get the right insight for my project. and for the design validation process, I conducted a simple survey to get feedback from potential users and improved it with their feedback.

What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?

The challenge I faced when designing this concept was how to combine various existing mobile operating system designs (especially the ones I have used) into a concept that is unique and also has its own characteristics. On the other hand, because this concept is quite big, another challenge is how my design must also have a similarity side like a mobile OS in general for users so that users can quickly get to know and adapt to my design concept, which in the end must be able to make it easier for users.

How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?

I see that of the many mobile technology design concepts in particular, no mobile operating system concept has been included in this competition, let alone those who have worked on it independently even for the design concept.

What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?

What I can learn from this particular project is how a designer can design a good design concept, which can make it easier for users to use the function of the design. Even though it is still a concept, this is the crucial stage in determining whether the concept is suitable for publication or not.

Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?

When working on a project, whatever it is, and even if it is still a concept if you have the belief that one day the concept can provide inspiration or even be realized and be useful for many people, then believe in it and work on it wholeheartedly.
