About Hera Kapal Layar

Hera minangka konsep kapal layar sing kailhami saka prau balapan J-Class sing dibangun ing taun 1930-an. Desain iki ditemtokake dening rong volume sing saling silang. Volume dek mili ing sadhuwure lambung saka buritan ngarep menyang posisi kemudi, ing ngendi dek mbungkus lambung lan mbentuk kemudi sing terintegrasi. Lambung nduweni permukaan sing dikontrol kailhami saka desain otomotif, kanthi garis sorotan sing mlaku ing sisih-sisihe. Persilangan saka rong volume kasebut nyipta bukaan cahya lan nyekel penyangga kanggo roda kemudi. Hera nduweni dawa 48 meter lan dibangun nganggo komposit karbon sing entheng.

Unique Properties
The innovative deck is the biggest visual innovation: its volume celebrates wind and speed as it flows over the hull, from the bow to the steer. The narrow tip merges seamlessy into the bow of the yacht and it grows wider towards the steer, where it wraps around the hull creating its unique integrated rudders.
The hull design has very contolled surfacing inspired by automotive design, where meticulously controlled highlights run along its sides.
The intersection of these two volumes seamlessly creates the opening for the day-light and they integrate the support for the steering wheels.

Production Technology
Using new generation of hull design and lightweight, carbon composite construction, Hera is expected to surf exceeding 25 knots of speed downwind,
The latest carbon construction technology provides for a reduced displacement and an increased rigidity.
Research
This project was inspired by the J-class yachts designed in the 1920s and 30s to compete for the America’s cup. Although this concept does not follow the Nathanael Herreshoff’s Universal Rule of those single masted ships, Hera still wants to represent the same feeling and emotional expression of those vessels. The most advanced technologies, materials and production methods have been taken into consideration for this yacht, to best integrate future and tradition. The general design language is inspired by the automotive world, caractherized by tense and fast lines stretching across the whole length of the hull, to define the speed of the geometry in a minimal and yet sophisticated way.
Hera is a concept sailboat where the top racing performance are married to spacious living space on deck and inside, aiming to offer the racing experience at the highest level of competition and the cruising enjoyment in the maximum comfort.
Inspiration
Hera is a concept sailing yacht inspired by J-Class vessels, the single-masted racing sailboats built in the 1930s to compete in the America’s Cup. This concept is a futuristic interpretation that celebrates these peak racers through innovative materials and innovative shapes.
Project Duration
The project is a personal visual concept privately realized between February and May 2019 in Shanghai and Munich by Nicola Mondini.
Operation Flow
The advanced sail handling system delivers easy control for reduced racing crew.
