About Kodama Bar Stool 바 좌석
코다마 바 스툴은 카운터와 바에서 사용하도록 디자인된 목재 좌석이다. 이 디자인은 안정감 있고 유기적인 외관을 지닌 재패디(Japandi) 접근 방식을 따른다. 대비를 이루는 월넛과 애플우드가 그대로 드러나는 독창적인 목재 접합부를 돋보이게 한다. 전통 목공 기술에 CNC 라우터를 결합하여 더욱 복잡하고 정밀한 접합이 가능해졌다. 스툴의 크기는 너비 45cm, 깊이 54cm, 높이 66cm이다. 코다마라는 이름은 나무의 정령을 뜻하며, 이 디자인은 재생 가능한 소재로서의 목재에 경의를 표한다.

- Unique Properties
- A subtle Japandi design with a grounded and organic aesthetic. The contrasting Walnut and Applewood highlight the stool's creative and original wood joinery. The Kodama Bar Stool is a blend of ancient techniques with modern technology to create a piece that will hopefully endure for generations, in both construction and design aesthetic.

- Production Technology
- The challenge of this project was devising a method to program the powerful CNC router to delicately manifest the design through complex coding of the toolpaths and precision workholdings of the components on the machine. This innovative process has many more exciting years of refinement ahead as we are just beginning to open the door to a new era of parametric design and manufacturing that will allow human creativity to flourish with these new capabilities.
- Design Challenge
- This is a new field of manufacturing with little education opportunities available so I'm self-taught and continually making everything up as I go. I wake up every day feeling like the luckiest guy in the world to be on this creative adventure.
- Inspiration
- The word Kodama translates to the "spirit of the tree". The intent behind the Kodama Bar Stool is to pay tribute to wood, one of our world's most renewable materials, and to honor the tree that granted us its life's work.
The goal of this project was to combine the knowledge of traditional woodworking with a CNC router to accomplish joinery that was previously unobtainable in complexity and precision. - Project Duration
- The project started in 2016 in the mountains of Colorado and was finished in Southern California in March 2019.

- Visible and honest wood joinery designed to hopefully endure through generations of daily use.
