Parachute 벽 선반 소개

패러슈트(Parachute)는 판금으로 제작된 벽 선반이다. 특정 구획을 사용하면 해당 구획의 판이 아래로 내려와 그 자리에 걸린 상태로 유지된다. 이렇게 늘어진 판은 코트나 잡지 등의 물품을 받쳐 떨어지지 않도록 잡아준다. 표면에는 가느다란 간격으로 구분된 컬러 스트라이프가 배치되어, 선반이 현대적인 낙하산의 그래픽적 외관을 연상시키며 벽면 예술 작품으로도 읽힐 수 있다. 패러슈트의 크기는 너비 790mm, 깊이 30mm, 높이 220mm이다. 그 이름은 보호한다는 개념과 떨어진다는 개념을 하나로 결합한 것이다.

영감: When listening to Coldplay's first album, it suddenly occurred to me to look up the word "Parachute."

It seems that the name "parachute" comes combining the Italian "parare" (to protect) with the French "chute" (to fall).

I thought that was a rather fine name.
I tried to think of devices that protect against falling.

프로젝트 기간: The project started in April 2017 in Tokyo and finished in October 2018 in Tokyo, and Yusuke Watanabe was exhibited in Salone del Mobile in April 2018.
