Reconnect 디지털 아트 인스톨레이션 소개

《Reconnect》는 원격 생활을 겪은 시기 이후의 인간 소통을 다룬 디지털 아트 인스톨레이션이다. 이 작품은 녹화된 화상 통화 영상과 알루미늄 프레임에 LED 스트립과 함께 설치된 12개의 LCD 스크린을 결합한다. 웹캠은 작품 앞에 선 관람객의 얼굴을 중앙 스크린에 비추고, 나머지 스크린에는 녹화된 통화 속에서 이야기하는 사람들의 모습이 나타난다. 처음에는 각 스크린이 서로 다른 통화를 개별적으로 재생하다가, 점차 모든 스크린이 하나의 통합된 이미지를 이루게 된다. 본 설치 작품은 노드 기반 비주얼 소프트웨어로 프로그래밍되었으며 단 한 대의 노트북으로 구동된다.

고유 특성: People have lived remotely but it’s getting back to normal life and they start to “reconnect” in the real world. This installation is composed of “virtual” interviews and multiple displays extended into “real” space.
Post-pandemic life won't look the same for everybody but you can see bright faces and positive words in this installation.

생산 기술: This installation was programmed by TouchDesigner, which is a node based visual programming language for interactive contents.
And it is composed of LCD screens, LED stripes and almi-frames. Each screens are connected to video splitter with HDMI cables.
One laptop pc handle 12 video outputs and LED data and sound.
디자인 과제: The most challenging point was how to output 12 zoom videos to LCD displays from one laptop PC.
I used 2 video splitters and programmed these videos were in-sync. At the first part, zoom calls are ongoing on each LCD screen, but gradually each screen compose one multi-display.
연구: Communications have changed since COVID happened. We are separated physically but on the other hand, we were able to talk virtually through zoom calls. I tried to materialize this way of communication into the real world. I asked my friends to record our zoom calls and they willingly accepted to be a part of my installation. You can hear positive words in this experience.
영감: People are using zoom call and we can see each other on screen. I tried to extend this situation into real space with LCD screens.
프로젝트 기간: This installation had been exhibited for a joint exhibition, "Public Visuals Exhibition" in Tokyo in October 2021 for two weeks.
운영 흐름: If you stand in front of this installation, your face is shown on center screen through webacam. And zoom calls are starting and people are shown on the other screen. Even if they are zoom calls but they are ongoing on actual screens, you will feel as if you talk to people in person.
