About Camarade Primärfunktioun: Modulär Miwwelkollektioun

Buchtext: Camarade ass eng modulär Miwwelkollektioun. D'Serie besteet aus véier Stécker: zwee Hocker mat fixer Héicht, een verstellbaren Hocker an een héichverstellbaren Dësch, verbonnen duerch konesch massiv Buchesëtzer a pulverbeschichtete Stolramen. D'entscheedend Innovatioun läit doran, Gasdrock- a mechanesch Teleskopmechanismen a Silhouetten ze verstoppen, déi schlank genuch sinn, fir als fix Miwwelen duerchzegoen. Verfügbar an Ardoise a Burnt Sienna, déngt Camarade hybride Raim, wou heemesche Komfort op professionell Funktioun trëfft, vun Heembüroen bis Gaaschtgewerbslokaler.

Unique Properties
Camarade addresses contemporary third spaces where domestic comfort meets professional use. Its innovation lies in seamless verticality. Table and stools transition from dining to standing height via hidden mechanisms within a minimalist silhouette. Unlike typical adjustable furniture that looks mechanical, Camarade maintains a warm aesthetic at any height through tactile solid beech and approachable curves. Shared design DNA across four typologies resolves the visual noise of flexible spaces.
Dimensions & Packaging
Collection comprises four pieces. Low Stool: 400W x 315D x 450H mm, seat thickness 30-33 mm, footprint 315 x 315 mm. Bar Stool: 390W x 360D x 800H mm, seat height 650 mm, backrest height 176 mm. Adjustable Stool: seat height 590-780 mm, base diameter 367 mm, gas-lift mechanism. Adjustable Table: 700 x 700 mm top, height 750-1020 mm, base diameter 458 mm. Materials: solid European beech seats and tops, powder-coated steel frames. Colors: Ardoise and Burnt Sienna. All pieces ship fully assembled.

Production Technology
The collection employs precision steel tube bending and powder-coating for all structural elements. Seats are crafted from sustainably sourced European beech, sculpted in three dimensions for ergonomic comfort without upholstery. Steel components use 20mm tubular profiles with welded cross-brace reinforcements, thermolacquered in two signature colors. Adjustable models incorporate gas-lift telescopic columns engineered for durability. Each piece ships fully assembled for structural integrity.
Design Challenge
The core challenge was concealing height adjustment mechanisms, a gas lift column and telescopic tube, within silhouettes slim enough to read as fixed furniture. Extensive prototyping resolved structural stability versus visual minimalism. Weld joints and cross brace geometries were iterated to achieve 20 mm tube profiles that support weight without visual bulk. Equally demanding was the material balance between industrial steel and organic beech so neither dominates across four typologies.
Research
Research employed observational and behavioral methods across residential, hospitality, homes, and coworking spaces in Switzerland and France, identifying demand for adaptable furniture transitioning between formal and informal use. Users require collections functioning cohesively while each piece keeps its identity. These insights informed the shared design DNA. Tapered legs and cylindrical pedestals unify four typologies.
Inspiration
The project revisits the constructive honesty of modernist utility furniture, elevated by Swiss precision. Objects serving multiple functions without demanding attention. The duality of cold steel and warm beech mirrors hybrid contemporary interiors where home becomes office and cafe becomes meeting room. The goal was to engineer a system where height-adjustment mechanisms remain invisible services to the user rather than features on display.
Project Duration
Concept development spanned three months of research into contemporary workspace and hospitality seating. Prototyping involved iterative testing of height-adjustment mechanisms, weld-joint geometries, and beech-forming techniques across twelve prototypes. Material sourcing prioritized European beech and French steel suppliers. Produced by Editions Antifer, France, launched January 2026.
Operation Flow
The collection features intuitive height adjustability across two pieces. The table transforms from dining height at 75 cm to bar height at 102 cm via a mechanical column, accommodating seated meals and standing gatherings. The adjustable stool complements this with a gas-lift spanning 59 to 78 cm, adapting to counters, bars, or workstations. Fixed-height stools provide reliable seating at dining (45 cm) and bar heights (65 cm). All pieces share unified design language enabling free combination.
