- For this project, the designer has set the classic chair style shape as the structural basis and combined it with the simplified Ruyi pattern. Then, by duplicating and flipping the pattern, the pattern is overlapped and fused to form a curved seat and legs, perfectly blending traditional culture with modern aesthetics.

Moreover, this product interprets the spirit of traditional culture unconventionally, changing our perception of traditional culture yet retaining its cultural connotation and, most importantly, paying tribute to ancestry wisdom. - Vladimir Kagan, the noted German American furniture designer, believes that designing a chair is like creating a container for an individual. Therefore, the function, shape, and meaning of the chair are highly associated with the user and the environment. This project is a clever application of one of the historical motifs of Chinese culture, Ruyi, to a modern product design. From 3D natural objects to 2D patterns and then applying them to 3D products, the designer has simplified the lines and colors to create a work that is aesthetically modern and attractive.
