About Arch Seza, Seza Tsy Misy Hazon-damosina
Ny Arch dia seza sy fipetrahana tsy misy hazon-damosina, vita amin'ny hazo pina sokitra sady mainty ny lokony ary asiana takelaka mifanindry (laminated). Ny drafitra dia mifototra amin'ny endrika tsotra sy miverimberina, izay manome ny fanaka endrika mitovy sy misy lojika. Arka dimy mitovy no mamorona ny tongotra sy ny hazon-damosin'ny seza, ary ny fipetrahana tsy misy hazon-damosina kosa dia vita amin'ny antsasa-arka telo izay mihaona eo afovoany. Ny ampahany rehetra dia notapahina avy amin'ny takelaka hazo mifanindry amin'ny alalan'ny milina CNC router, ary avy eo nakomboina sy nakambana tamin'ny fanjaitra hazo (dowels). Ny fiolanolan'ny arka dia manamafy ny fanaka eo amin'ireo faritra malemy indrindra amin'ny firafitra.

Behind the Design

Credits, team members and technical details provided by the designer.
- Unique Properties
- Chair and stool made out of carved and black stained laminated pine wood. The design is based on simple and repetitive forms, rules and shapes that gives the furniture a simple, homogenous and logic expression. Five identical arches create the legs and backrest of the chair, while a stool is made by three half arches that connect in the center.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- All parts are made from a laminated wooden plate, 26mm thick.
Chair:
Wooden legs = 40mm thick
Total height = 860mm
Width = 420 x 420mm
Seat height = 456mm
Stool height = 426mm
Leg width = 40mm
Seat diameter: 318mm (carved from the backrest of the chair) - Tags

- Production Technology
- Laminated pine wood, carved with a CNC router, glued together and stained black. The chair backrest is reinforced with a wooden piece along the top, laid with opposite fiber direction. The curves of the chair strengthen the chair at its most fragile points. The pieces of the chair and stool are connected with wooden dowels and glue.
- Design Challenge
- To find the correct proportions, fitting within the size of the laminated wooden board, and at the same time creating interesting shapes that look well from all sides. The use of only 90 degree connections, has made it extra important to find the correct sizes. It has also been a challenge to find the point of construction where the chair is stable enough without looking over-dimensioned.
- Research
- The aim for the project has been to create furniture with simple means of production. The use of CNC carved wood, was early decided as a production method, and has affected the design, which uses the advantages of CNC (curved shapes), without creating a piece of furniture that looks like it came from a CNC machine.
- Inspiration
- The project was developed by trying to create a simple and characteristic piece of furniture with the use of cost-effective and simple production methods and materials. Without access to a full scale workshop, CNC routing allowed to prefabricate the furniture with low cost, high precision and the possibility of creating curved shapes
- Project Duration
- The project started in march 2020 - and finished in late May 2020.
- Operation Flow
- The design breaks down the chair into its main components - legs, seat and backrest - and treats them as equally as possible by repeating and using the same dimensions, shapes, materials, joints and surfaces.
