About Eastern Blocks Whakamahinga Matua: Whakarākai Raima

Ko Eastern Blocks he kohinga whakarākai raima i whakaawetia e ngā whare papa o te Rāwhiti o Uropi. Kei roto i te kohinga ko ngā heitiki me ngā whakakai e whai ana i ngā āhua o ngā whare noho i hangaia i mua. Ka whakamahia te raima nā te mea he māmā te rawa, kāore e whakatairanga mate mate, ā, kāore e ngāwari te pakaru. Ka tīmata ia wāhanga hei tuhi ā-ahu-toru, ka whai ake ko ngā tauira tuatahi me ngā puhera hiraka mō te whakarewa. Kātahi ka honoa ngā wāhanga raima kua oti ki te hiriwa me te hiako. Ka pōwhiritia e te kohinga he tirohanga hou ki ngā taonga tuku iho o te hoahoanga o te Rāwhiti o Uropi.

Production Technology
I chose concrete material - light, non-allergenic, and less fragile to create an ode of a brutalist dystopia. First of all, I designed 3d drawings, made prototypes, and then, started to create molds for concrete details with silicon. When the concrete pieces were finished, I started metalworking with silver and leather materials.
Design Challenge
To find a form, which would be understandable, that it's blockhouse jewelry, but minimalist, aesthetic and impressive.
Research
I made monitoring of the architecture and society attitude of Eastern European houses. My objective was to find a way, how to talk about post-Soviet society and Eastern European architecture heritage in fashion accessories. The main point is to start a discussion with locals' minds about this unique architecture and spread this wearable message. In this collection, I question people’s attitudes towards Soviet heritage and invite you to take a fresh look at Soviet architecture and society's illusions.
Inspiration
The collection was inspired by Eastern European panel blockhouses as an iconic modern community symbol. Shapes of panel buildings and us - people, who live in individuality fiction, because the truth is that only a few centimeters between the walls separate us and our individuality is just fiction in this world.
Project Duration
This project started as an idea 2018 but I finished this collection 2020.
Operation Flow
Wearable jewelry made of concrete. Light, strong, and non - allergic material make jewelry more comfortable and wearable. This technology and design give a chance to wear architecture in real form and material as a piece of jewelry.
