Mō Herringbone Tēpu Kai

Ko Herringbone he tēpu kai i whakaarohia mai i te hanganga o ngā rau rākau me te whāinga kia whakakorehia ngā mea kāore i te tino hiahiatia. Ka noho ngā hanganga o roto kia kitea, ā, ka whakaaturia mārikitia te āhua ngāwari. Kua hangaia te tēpu mai i te rākau mārō o Amerika kua whakamanahia, me te whakaotinga hinu māori, ā, ko ōna nui he 2500 e 1000 e 750 milimita. Ka whakamahia ngā tikanga mahi rākau tuku iho me ngā pūkenga o ngā kaimahi rākau matatau, me te iti rawa o te kāpia e taea ana. Ka hangaia ā-ringa ngā mata nui e rua. Ka taea te wehewehe i te tēpu kia toru ngā wāhanga, engari ka noho tonu hei mea kotahi.

This piece was made utilizing only certified wood, and using only the know-how of the master craftsmen. It was made with only the most traditional techniques of woodworking in a simple way. Just Perfect.
Wero Hoahoa
The simplicity of the piece had no great technological challenges since it was designed to be built with the most basic woodworking tools. However, the fixation of the stringers that join the two parts , had to be made specifically for this model because there is nothing on the market capable of doing the job . The two large table tops are hand sculptured to take their final shape.
Rangahau
to find the limit of the materials in order to have a piece that was elegant but resistant at the same time. Knowing that the choice of wood to be used would also define its strength, we started with a prototype in pine just to consolidate proportions, and then, in the production of the first piece already in American walnut, we gradually removed the excess in thickness while maintaining a good reliability in construction. This table is dismountable in 3 parts but its resistance and plasticity behave as if it were a single piece .
Whakaaweawe
The inspirational muse and the starting point for any design was always sought around the tree, however, this time also in a perspective of looking at the tree and the possibility of reducing the use of its resources. In this logic the structure of the leaves (Herringbone) and the elimination of what is superfluous, left to show the whole internal structure and with it its simple and beautiful silhouette.
Roanga o te Kaupapa
This project started in January 2021 in Lisbon with the first sketches on paper, then moved to the 3D creation phase for general visualization, followed by Maketa in pine wood. The project was completed in September 2022 with the design of the first piece in American Walnut .
Rerenga Mahi
It is a simple and clearly honest object , what you see is what is . It presents no interaction mechanisms and it is meant to be appreciated in its simplicity .
