I studied womenswear design at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology for my undergraduate degree, and then I decided to move to London.

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

I studied womenswear design at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology for my undergraduate degree, and then I decided to move to London. After completing a year of study in Kingston University, I am now studying at the Royal College of Art.

What is "design" for you?

My designs are mainly for women and people with special needs, hoping to improve their lives through functional and therapeutic clothing.

What kinds of works do you like designing most?

I love designing functional and therapeutic clothing. I believe that clothing has great potential in terms of functionality beyond just being beautiful to wear.

What makes a design successful?

I think a design is successful because it really meets the needs of some people, so successful design is based on the needs of the people.

From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

I think in today's society, it is the responsibility of designers to pay attention to the topic of sustainable development and special groups in society.

How do you work with companies?

I did, and I learnt a lot from these experience.

What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?

My sketchbook, mannequin, pen, fabric, scissors.

Because after I get off work I can often still hear message reminders from work, which prevents me from completely resting, making me even more tired, and the cycle repeats itself.

Your innovative approach to psychological detachment through the Escape Work Detachment Garment is fascinating - could you elaborate on how the WeChat message sound specifically inspired this transformation from work to leisure wear?

Because after I get off work I can often still hear message reminders from work, which prevents me from completely resting, making me even more tired, and the cycle repeats itself.

The Escape Work Detachment Garment employs zero-waste tailoring techniques - how did this sustainable approach influence your design decisions and what challenges did you face in maintaining both functionality and minimal waste?

I think sustainable development is very important in the process of marketization and commercial production. Therefore, zero-cut design from the source pattern can greatly reduce fabric waste.

Your design incorporates elastic bands and pullable straps to enable swift transitions - could you walk us through the technical development process that led to these specific solutions in the Escape Work Detachment Garment?

I designed a special technique to change the seams of the garments so that the elastic cords and pullable straps can change the silhouette of the garment by pulling.

The concept of psychological detachment is central to the Escape Work Detachment Garment - how did your research into post-work behaviors, such as tie-loosening and collar-unbuttoning, shape the final design elements?

I did a lot of research on the fast-changing outfits, especially Hussin Chalayan, and I was curious about how other designers achieved it and which techniques they used.

In creating the Escape Work Detachment Garment, you achieved a remarkable "single piece in two-way dressing" - could you explain how this dual functionality evolved during your design process?

A piece of clothing can be quickly switched from work wear to casual wear, so as to quickly enter the off work state from working state. In this way to bring wearers more comfort and relax.

The Escape Work Detachment Garment represents a unique intersection between workwear and leisure clothing - how do you envision this concept influencing the future of adaptive fashion design?

I have also been paying close attention to adaptive fashion design recently. My school, RCA, also encourages students to pay attention to this field. After participating in the project, I think I should let the people participate in our design. Any design without the people is unreliable.

Your background in merging sustainable practices with female wearing experience clearly influenced the Escape Work Detachment Garment - how does this design specifically address the modern professional woman's needs?

It is difficult for modern women to completely withdraw from work after work, so I saw this need to design clothing for women who face this difficulty.

The transformation mechanism in the Escape Work Detachment Garment seems to carry both practical and symbolic significance - could you elaborate on how this physical change in clothing supports psychological detachment from work?

I hope to switch between work and rest states by changing between work clothes and casual clothes.I hope that this way I can eliminate the wearer's tension and allow them to truly rest.

Having won the A' Design Award for the Escape Work Detachment Garment, how do you plan to further develop this concept of transformative clothing that addresses work-life balance?

I want to work with more women, let them join my designs and express their ideas, and I can improve my designs through their feedback.

The Escape Work Detachment Garment emerged from a personal observation about post-work stress - could you share specific feedback from users about how this design has impacted their work-to-leisure transition?

This experiment is ongoing and I am still looking for more suitable women to participate in my designs, I need more feedbacks from women to adjust my design.
