About Accordio Rumah Ereang

Accordio adolah rumah ereang nan bisa dibawok pai-pai, dibuek dari silikon. Badan nan ringan ko bisa dilipek sarupo akordion, sahinggo rumah ko dapek dibawok jo mudah salamo kagiatan di lua rumah atau bapai-pai. Pamukoan silikonnyo sanang dibarasiahkan. Jo mamancet kaduo sisinyo, rumah ko bisa dipadekkan manjadi surang dari anam kali ukuran aslinyo. Salapan rangko magnet nan dipakuek mambarikan kakuatan struktur sarato manjago bantuak nan lah dilipek supayo tatap pipiah dan padek. Sabuah bantal kain lah disasuaikan supayo pas di dalam rumah nan lah dilipek, mampamudah wakatu dibawok pai-pai.

Unique Properties: Accordio is a design study about portable pet houses. The silicone pet house is light-weighted and collapsible as an accordion-like structure. It is easy to clean and carry during outdoor activities and travels.

Production Technology: Accordio is made with silicone. Each magnetic frame (a total of 8) is reinforced for structural stability. Once collapsed, these frames adhere each other and keep it compact and portable.
Design Challenge: The biggest challenge was how to keep accordio in a flattened shape when it is collapsed. Several ways were explored such as snap buttons, strap and etc. Amongst them, magnetic frames were chosen to be an ideal solution as they could provide structural stability as well as visual clarity.
Research: Accordio is a design study about portable pet houses. The design explores the use of silicone for pet housing. The light-weighted and safe nature of silicone provides many potentials for a portable pet house.
Inspiration: Accordio was first inspired by my niece's silicone bowl plate. I was intrigued by its flexibility and portability. After some research, I found that silicone also has a fascinating collapsible feature, which was later adopted into a foldable house.
Project Duration: The project started in June 2020 in Calgary, Canada and finished in July 2020 in Banff, Canada.
Operation Flow: This silicone house can be compressed in a 1/6 size by pushing both sides. A fabric cushion can be conveniently fit into the collapsed form for portability.
