About Erhu Kurisi

Erhu adolah sabuah kurisi nan diilhami dek erhu, sabuah alat musik senar tradisional Cino. Rancangan iko manggunoan budaya nasional sabagai bahaso mebel moderen sarato mangeksplorasi gaya Cino kontemporer. Strukturnyo sederhana, hanyo tadiri dari duo bagian: permukaan tampek duduak jo kaki. Sandaran kurisi, permukaan tampek duduak, jo kaki dapan mambantuak satu potongan plywood melengkuang nan dipress dalam cetakan nan lah disiapkan sabalunnyo. Permukaannyo dilapisi jo kayu ash jo kayu walnut, sadangkan kaki-kakinyo dibuek dari kayu walnut. Bantuak kaki balakang mairiangkan kaki babantuak tapak (hoof shaped leg) nan taraso pado mebel gaya Ming. Lengkuangannyo mangikuik bantuak tubuah manusia.

Unique Properties: Inspired by Erhu, a traditional Chinese classical instrument, the design incorporated national culture as a language of modern furniture, exploring a new style of contemporary Chinese furniture.
The structure is so simple that there are only two parts: seat surface and legs. The chair back, seat surface and front leg are made of curved plywood as a whole, and the three dimensional seating space is completed with two dimensional curves fitting the shape of the human body.

Production Technology: The integrated shape of the seat surface, chair back and front leg is completed by pressing the curved plywood in a premade mold.
The surface used ash wood and walnut for veneering. The legs are made of walnut.

Inspiration: The design is inspired by Erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument. Erhu’s unique timbre is presented in the form of seats by interpreting the intangible with the tangible.
