About Coastline Meja
Coastline ialah sebuah meja yang mendapat inspirasi daripada peningkatan paras laut akibat pemanasan global. Permukaan meja diperbuat daripada akrilik, yang juga dikenali sebagai PMMA, dan dibentuk melalui proses pemanasan bersuhu tinggi untuk menggambarkan air laut yang jernih. Struktur penyokong pula diperbuat daripada kayu michelia compressa dan kayu pain, yang melambangkan ketinggian gunung. Kayu keras dipilih supaya struktur tidak berubah bentuk semasa proses pemanasan. Tepi yang tidak sekata mengingatkan kita kepada garis pantai yang terhakis oleh laut, manakala gabungan bahan tersebut membolehkan cahaya menembusi dalam bentuk berlapis. Meja ini berukuran 350 mm lebar, 650 mm dalam dan 500 mm tinggi.

- Unique Properties
- The clearness of the sea is represented by liquid acrylic, and the height of the mountain is mainly wood, creating a combination of different materials that echoes the light of the layers.

- Production Technology
- The table top is mainly made of PMMA, and the table is mainly made of michelia compressa and Pine.
- Design Challenge
- Liquid acrylic material is selected as the table top. Liquid acrylic shaping requires high-temperature heating. Therefore, hard wood is selected so that it will not deform during heating.
Considering the above, in the end, the desktop wood is chosen to use the hard texture Michelia compressa wood.
Liquid acrylic color grading is also one of the big challenges. It takes a lot of time for each test to get the best color and transmittance. - Inspiration
- Taking the rising sea level caused by global warming as the starting point, the coastline was eroded by the seawater and showed an uneven appearance, making the table more layered.
- Project Duration
- The project started in January 2017 in Taiwan. And finished in June 2017 in Taiwan. And was exhibited in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in June 2017. For the second time in Taipei Pavilion of fashion in November 2019.
- Operation Flow
- This is a table with good light transmission and beauty.
