About Flip Kerusi

Unique Properties
The Flip chair design was inspired by the serene feeling of sitting on a grassy lawn, where one can enjoy the natural softness, warmth, and gentle breeze of the environment. The chair's "flip" theme embodies the graceful movement of grass in the wind, creating a dynamic and organic form.

To achieve this effect, computer programs were used to simulate the fluidity and folds of the chair's seat. The wood was bent into shape using steam, replicating the natural curves and contours of the grassy landscape. The resulting product was then meticulously handcrafted to provide users with an authentic and immersive natural experience. The seat's flipping surface offers a unique and comfortable sitting experience, as if one is lounging on a custom-shaped patch of grass.

Production Technology
We utilized Grasshopper programming to create a gradual and dynamic transformation in the chair's design, incorporating the "flip" element to compose the overall shape. The steam bending technique was employed to produce the desired flipping contours, with the aid of specialized tools and jigs to ensure precision in every line.

After the components were produced, our seasoned woodworkers meticulously assembled and refined the chair's appearance, applying surface treatment to achieve a seamless finish.
Design Challenge
The design of this chair posed a dual challenge that pushed the boundaries of creativity and production. The first challenge was how to effectively capture the sensation of wind flow, while the second was finding the most efficient and effective means of producing this effect.

Through the use of innovative design techniques and specialized production methods, we were able to successfully overcome these challenges, resulting in a chair that embodies the grace and beauty of natural wind flow, while also being produced in an efficient and practical manner.
Inspiration
Our chair design draws inspiration from the sensation of sitting on grass - that feeling of lounging on a sprawling lawn, experiencing the plushness of the grass beneath you, basking in the warm sunlight, and feeling the gentle caress of the breeze.
Project Duration
The project started in April 2020 in Taiwan and finished in August 2021 in taiwan
