About Coral Teapot
Coral huwa teapot magħmul bl-idejn ispirat mill-forom u t-textures intrikati tal-qroll tal-baħar. L-manku wieħed jippermetti li t-teapot jinżamm minn kull direzzjoni, minn fuq, mix-xellug jew mil-lemin, li jirrifletti l-ħafna modi kif kulturi differenti jżommu teapot. Daqqa 'l ġewwa fin-naħa ta' wara tal-korp tippermetti li t-teapot jinqabad u jintrefa'. Id-disinn tal-għatu huwa integrat fil-manku, biex il-linji jgħaddu madwar il-forma kollha. Coral huwa magħmul minn earthenware mibni bil-coil, alterat, minqux u b'textura, mibrum bi shino glaze u maħruq fl-ossidazzjoni.

- Unique Properties
- Coral-inspired, this teapot has a single handle that effectively encompasses handling the teapot from all directions (overhead, left or right) and is inclusive of the myriad of ways different cultures handle a teapot. The indent at the back of the pot allows the pot to be pinched and lifted. Incorporating the lid's design into the handle, the lines of the teapot pleasingly flows around the whole form.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- 125mm x 90mm x 165mm
- Tags
- ceramic, teapot, coral, earthenware, carved, handmade
- Production Technology
- Coil-constructed, altered, carved and textured earthenware; shino glaze, oxidation fired (1200°C)
- Design Challenge
- The most challenging part was constructing the handle. Clay being a soft and malleable material prior firing made it difficult to maintain and keep the overhead handle in position. The highly intricate coral texture of the teapot also required a lot of meticulous work.
- Inspiration
- As a child, I loved visiting the beach with my family. Picking seashells and exploring the corals that were washed on the shores was my favourite pastime. Memories of these happy moments have always stayed firmly with me. Inspired by the intricacy and elegant details on corals, I created the series "Coral - Rhythm of the Seas", to commemorate the wonderful times of my childhood.
- Project Duration
- Started in January 2013 and finished in February 2013.
- Operation Flow
- With its single handle, this teapot can effectively be handled from all directions (overhead, left or right). It embraces a culturally myriad of ways of handling a teapot.
