About Nus Dar Residenzjali
Nus hija dar residenzjali li tinsab f'Kreta, il-Greċja. Volum prinċipali f'forma ta' U huwa kkombinat ma' dar tal-mistednin taħt l-art. Iż-żewġ volumi jimmassimizzaw l-espożizzjoni lejn ix-xlokk u jirrispondu għall-angolu li jinbidel tax-xemx matul l-istaġuni. Żewġ spazji solari, wieħed b'dell fiss u ieħor b'purtieri li jduru u ħajt massiċċ, jippermettu tisħin u tkessiħ naturali. Bejt aħdar, superfiċji tal-ilma, xaft tal-ventilazzjoni u fetħiet tal-bejt ikkontrollati jtejbu l-kumdità termali. Pannelli fotovoltajċi, sħħaniet tal-ilma solari u sistema ġeotermali jnaqqsu l-marka enerġetika.

- Unique Properties
- The main criteria for the architectural decisions made, were the need for low energy footprint building designs, as well as the views towards pure Cretan nature. Τhe main U shaped residence along with the underground guest house volume, maximize the southeast exposure of the building, while they are taking advantage of the different angle of the sun rays during the seasonal cycles.

- Production Technology
- For natural heating and cooling, we created two solar spaces, one with fixed shading, one with rotating blinds and a mass wall. Water surfaces on the south walls, the green roof, the hiding of the western light, the vertical ventilation shaft with small openings towards the North and the controlled shading roof openings, lead to thermal comfort conditions. Photovoltaic panels, solar water heaters and the vertical geothermal system, contribute to minimize the building’s ecological footprint.
- Inspiration
- We believe in the integration of buildings into nature. Humble design tones present with more challenging architectural solutions, that take into account the sustainability and the ecological footprint of our built environment. Furthermore, the Cretan nature and landscape only needs a good frame to be appreciated or no frame at all. And this is what we did here. Minimum sq.meters, natural materials and welcoming volume decisions.
